Re: Werewolf and Wolfwere confusion....

I think the whole "Ravenloft hides things" concept comes into play here as well. I can more easily see werewolves and wolfweres identifying each other by scent (and having that scent be keen enough to differentiate between the two types of creature) if we're on Oerth or Krynn or Toril. Sor...

Re: The Galen Saga - The Song of the Taverners

I think it went like this: *Evee heard a knock at the door. *Brom opened it and found the baby. *Trebor suggested going to the Carnival. It was so free form and unstructured, especially at the beginning, that it's quite difficult to piece together everything. Whoa, thread necromancy! :azalin: Yep, ...

To Sorti: True enough -- I probably should have phrased it more like "do you interpret the Metamorphic Transfer feat to do XYZ in your home games/house rules"... and if so, how has that worked out? To Mikhal: I can see your point as well... if I could just convince my DM that it's just sem...

Regarding the mind flayer... playing Rules As Written, would I get the mind blast since it's a spell-like ability? Rules for the metamorphosis power (and you're right, it's basically a psionic version of the polymorph spell) indicate that you do not get the "extraordinary special qualities poss...

Character Optimization for a 3.5e Psionic Character

Hi, everyone, Long time no post (but fairly-frequent lurking). Hope everyone's doing well. Recently, I was given the opportunity to play in a semi-regular 3.5e game set in Ravenloft. Wanting to make the most of this opportunity (as rare as it is), I wanted to do something I haven't done before, so I...

Couple of thoughts: *A doorway that actually leads into the stomach or intestines of someone in the party. If anyone's read "The Dancing Hut of Baba Yaga", you know where I got this. The PC whose body the doorway leads into can't pass the doorway, of course, but everyone else can--and the ...

I think Anne Rice does explore this a bit more in her other novels--at least, in The Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned, and Tale of the Body Thief . Not to reveal too much, but it's only Louis (and there are arguments for Armand as well) who are completely overcome by the whole apathy thing. Other...

I thought it wasn't bad--not great by any stretch of the imagination, but still not bad. SPOILERS (if it matters, since I waited until DVD to watch this one) ... ... ... ... ... Good Points: 1.) Good use of CGI--not too much, just enough (which is a rare thing these days); the wolf transformations, ...

I absolutely cannot stand political correctness! The thread says Merry Christmas so it sticks with Merry Xmas. Not Ramadan, not bloody whatever. Do christians become insulted over people wishing happy Ramadan or whatever? Merry Xmas!!! For my part, no, we don't. I get more offended by everyone bend...

From what I've read (and I haven't managed to make it through the entire series yet, just the first book), C.S. Lewis never really intended the stories to be Christian allegories per se; in fact, several sources I've seen have included a statement something like the following: "It's not allegor...

I would say for the most part that it depends on what level your PCs currently are and how long you want this mysterious gentleman around. I would agree that a lich or a dragon COULD be too powerful for them to deal with directly, but that assumes that both the NPC and the PCs are stupid enough to g...

I'd like to see more Gazetteers (predictably). Earlier this week I was out sick from work and was thumbing through the published Gaz volumes--started about 10:00 in the morning and before I knew it four hours had passed. Yes, I'm that hungry for details to add to my ongoing campaigns. I'd second the...

Just as a quick update--it's going just about as slow as I figured it would. I know it's going to look very cool when I get it all put together (lots of features that enable you to customize the castle you build--banners and flags of different colors and designs, tabs that can be added to place garg...

I greatly enjoyed the movie Memento and the short story it was based on ("Memento Mori"), and I definitely think it has some great inspirational ideas for use with Darkon's memory-drain. If you've got the kinds of players who can handle it, I think the idea of having the PCs start out as b...
