Re: 2E vs. 3E Tarokka Deck

Those are pretty amazing looking. I'd love to have a set just to have for my collection, but I'm just not willing to put that much money out for a product that I would rarely use, if at all. Still, they are quite eye catching!

Re: Pre - modern Gothic earth

for an asian setting, would it be a good idea to use the Legacy of the five rings source books, which are set in a mythical japanese setting if I am not mistaken. I think it could be useful especially if using it for a d20 system, which is what I think it uses. Legend of the Five Rings is set in Me...

Re: 2E vs. 3E Tarokka Deck

Yes, but don't get too excited. It was a stand alone, and it seems to be increasingly rare. It's not unusual to see it selling on ebay for close to $100. Don't I know it. I was searching online for this product earlier today, and everywhere I looked, it was either sold out, or ungodly priced. Hmmm....

Re: My Ravenloft Collection has GROWN!!!

That friend of mine is a professional actor and he gathered a large group of people to regularly read theatre plays in his house. It was from this group that we invited people to join. Among them there are some acting students or professionals, but all the others have participated in the readings a...

Re: Ravenloft Ambiance and Gaming Props.

OMG!! Thank you sooo much for recommending the Nox Arcana Group. I found their website, and was able to listen to several samples of their music, and it's EXACTLY what I was looking for!!! I'll be sure to purchase at least two or three of their albums for gaming purposes. Plus, you just can't beat p...

Re: A fond look back at the Black Box

a fond look back at Feast of Goblyns You know, I just went through all my Ravenloft Modules, and believe it or not, I don't have this one! Figures!! I seem to remember wanting to procure this, but like several other pieces, I never got around to it. Doh! :P I may have it somewhere in...

Ravenloft Ambiance and Gaming Props.

So here is an interesting topic. What sorts of things do you use to help create a mood of fear, and horror in your games? Do you use props? If so, what kind? Do you use background music? If so, what do you recommend? As DM, it's up to you to help create that sense of fear that is all too important i...

Re: A fond look back at the Black Box

I am so glad my post about the Black Box started a good debate on 2E vs 3E. LOL! *winces a bit* Yeah, apologies WoodsDarkman. I think this was my fault. I have a tendency to speak my mind when something comes to it, and should have considered the original point of this thread before delving into th...

"Fair Better in Death" Campaign Journal Comments

I noticed that in some of the other forums, threads were started so the reader could comment on a Journal, or Fictional Story thread. Hence, this post. Be gentle!! LOL! :)

Re: My Ravenloft Collection has GROWN!!!

they had never seen a d20, had no clue what gaming was like, were all afraid of sounding ridiculous or not knowing how to play!) LOL!! Yeah, I don't think I've ever had an entire gaming group be this green. For me, it's always been one, or two players new to role-playing, not the whole party!! LOL!...

Re: A fond look back at the Black Box

The fact that there is a rule for everything means we can focus on the story, instead of the endless house-ruling and rule arguments we had in 2e. The game mechanics are solid, and then they get out of the way. Hmmm... I never thought of it this way, but I think your right! Granted, I've never real...

Re: A fond look back at the Black Box

I'm glad 3E works well for you Giamara. Seriously! :) If your happy with it, and you really enjoy the system, then you keep on playing it bud. You used the word "simulationalist". LOL!! I like that. It describes exactly what I was thinking 3e actually does for the game. It makes for...

Re: 2E vs. 3E Tarokka Deck

I only have the 2nd Edition deck, and never really used them in a game. I think the concept is nice, but I'd rather buy a cheap deck of actual tarot cards, and use them as a prop. As DM, you already have a strong knowledge of what the characters face, and with a bit of good role-playing you can inco...

Re: Looking for Out of Print Material?

Don't know if you guys do this, but I do. I get a cheap pdf and have it printed and well binded. It costs me like 15 or 20 max each book ;) Hmmmm... Interesting idea. I guess I would do this as long as the paper, and binding was of a quality nature, but at the same time, there is something about ow...
