Re: A fond look back at the Black Box

I don't look down upon 3E so much. But that is because I never really gave it a chance. Oh, please don't mistake my intention. I think the 3rd, and 4th Editions are decent gaming systems. It's just not what I prefer. I've tried playing both editions, and even tried to run a game or two using them. ...

"Fair better in Death!" : A Red Death Campaign Journal

Hello all!! Having just started this campaign, I took the time to write up a "Story so far" thread in my own gaming group's forums. I guess you would call this a "Campaign Journal" entry. Due to the fact that we are only gaming once per month, I thought this a perfect way to keep...

Re: A fond look back at the Black Box

Yes, I agree about the early modules. For a young boy my age, it was an amazing thing to play through them. Of course, as the years went by, and my gaming experience began to take shape, I started to shy away from the modules in general. Today, I think they are great for burgeoning DM's to learn the...

Re: My Ravenloft Collection has GROWN!!!

Pathfinder is the one true way". Heh heh heh. :P LOL! Ok, I get it now. Thanks for the explanation. Like I stated before in another post, I think it's interesting, but my comfort zone will always be 2nd Edition. As long as I can find players who don't mind using it as a game system, then I'm s...

Re: My Ravenloft Collection has GROWN!!!

Imagine my surprise when it turned out those books weren't for sale... The back room had sprung a leak of some sort, and the store owners wanted to keep their prized books safe and dry while they fixed things. Such disappointment... ^^; Ugh!! That's heartbreaking!! LOL! Thanks for the link to the P...

Re: My Ravenloft Collection has GROWN!!!

I'm a 2nd edition Ravenloft guy all the way as well. I'm working on collecting all of 2nd edition now, I have about ... probably 1/3 of the modules and half of the rest of the material.
Good for you!! It's nice to see that someone else loves the 2nd Edition line too! :)

Re: My Ravenloft Collection has GROWN!!!

Welcome to the boards! Thanks Gonzoran!! It is much appreciated. Having plenty of time on my hands as of late, I found myself rummaging through my collection, and reading old books that I haven't opened in years. LOL! Hence my re-emergence into the role-playing scene. I happened upon these forums a...

Re: Pre - modern Gothic earth

Yes, I've thought of trying to run Asian oriented games, but to be honest, I'm just not well versed enough in their cultures to effectively run a game in that setting. At least, not for my standards. My players, and I place a high emphasis on our role-playing/acting abilities, and I can't speak for ...

Looking for Out of Print Material?

Well, look no further. Some of you may already be aware of this company, but I thought this could help those of you whom are still trying to round out their collections. The company is called Noble Knight Games, and probably has the most extensive line of OOP D&D products I've ever seen. Take a ...

Re: Spicing Up The Bride of Mordenheim

I see. Well, I wish I could give you some advice on this, but to be honest, I'm not familiar with the "Bride of Mordenheim" adventure. The "Book of Crypts" is one of the few accessories I don't have. LOL!! I've wanted it for years, I just haven't gotten around to getting it. I wi...

Re: A fond look back at the Black Box

When I was a kid about 8 years old I got my mom to get me the Basic Set which included The Keep on the Borderlands. I was hooked and ended up getting as many modules as I could. Tomb of Horros, Againts the Giants, Slave Pits of the Undercity, Palace of the Silver Princes those type of modules. LOL!...

Re: Pre - modern Gothic earth

In the end, the PCs received a final dinner in thanks from a local farmer named Mao, whose very young son is the Red Emissary the mystics spoke of. That's an awesome storyline. I've thought about introducing my players to something like this, but the political intrigue I think would be too much for...

Re: My Ravenloft Collection has GROWN!!!

In reading a lot of this thread, I'm assuming that all of you have collections that are mostly based out of 3.0, 3.5, and 4th Editions. I'm an old school 2nd Edition player/gm, and my collection show this. Yes, I'm that weird old guy who still loves D&D. My first D&D purchase was that of the...

Re: Spicing Up The Bride of Mordenheim

Hello!! First time poster on these forums!! I've read your dilemma, and have been pondering what would be a good course of action. I've been GMing the majority of my gaming life, and can still remember bringing home the new D&D "Basic", and "Expert" boxed sets in 1981. LOL!! ...
