Short of declaring this a sequel in a cheesy way (including reincarnated Barovian village girls with the same names), ancestors/descendants would probably be the best for handling continuity. Unfortunately, my descendants and ancestors would probably be as useless as I am for repairing my map.

I really don't see the time discrepancies with FR being a problem, but the Van Richten thing could be, especially if you are trying to make it flow with the rest of the Ravenloft setting and canon--which already has problems.

I think the fan sites (fraternity, areas.org, etc) should weigh out all the options before going whole hog on publishing everything to dms guild.
