Shadowsworn isn't off too badly, Dante has the seducers and panderers marched for all eternity by demons with whips. All of the lusty folks will be getting battered by a huge whirlwind forever. It's kinda weird.. thieves are punished more severely (closer to Satan) than murderers, but I think the fl...

Would killing a dark lord draw a powers check? I know that in the D&D cosmology, that killing a fiend (evil outsider) is never an evil act, no matter what the circumstances. I also know that the dark lords of Ravenloft is more or less the equivalent of fiendish accomplishment. I don't think the ...

I think they should've given the Paladin an actual reality wrinkle instead of the whole "Final Stand" or whatever that is. It would have the benefit of causing the darklord to become immediately concerned (if he or she wasn't already) with the paladin's presence in her domain, without maki...

I prefer 3.0, but there is nothing wrong with 2nd edition. Except for weapon speed modifiers to initiative. I'm sure they make combat more realistic but I hated that stuff.

The marketing writes itself... once folks get bored with Zombies, they'll probably come out with Ghouls or Mummies or something odious like that. Of course they'll stop once they stop registering a profit

Ravenloft's "why" has been the subject of about a decade of speculation, with no official publisher seeing fit to deliver an answer. Ravenloft could have been a utopia gone awry, with the Dark Powers planning on creating a paradise for mortals, apart from the imperfections of the Prime. Ra...

Drinnik posted the modron download before I could.

I don't think they're being phased out, I just think they wanted to throw in something more aggressive (formians) so that there could be another organization out there bent on mulitversal conquest.

Has there even been a rogue modron in Ravenloft?

I think the early 30s (1931-1935) would be the best point to start. The compelling villains present themselves (Hitler, Stalin) and the squalor being experienced is nearly universal. The era would also be a good way to show the success of the Red Death in subverting the various good qabals of the 18...

Brain-like creatures? Do you mean intellect devourers? Or something new? My question is this... if the illithids are on the brink of destruction, why are they plotting an planet-wide invasion? Shouldn't they be hiding out, or is this invasion taking place years after the Illlithids were marooned on ...

I think the Spelljammer thing could work... but I think crashing onto Gothic Earth would immediately draw the interest of the Red Death... it probably wouldn't allow the PCs to leave Gothic Earth easily. I'm more reluctant when it comes to combining the Dark Powers with Cthulhu. Lovecraft's point of...
