Re: Kingdom on Netflix

I'm about 5 episodes into the first season and it is great. It could definitely work as a Ravenloft setting, possibly in I'Cath or Rokushima or as a new domain entirely (there's at least two viable candidates for Darklordship so far). Highly recommended!

Re: Bleak House - Richtens Haus (spoilers)

Great ideas Rock, I will use them if I ever decide to re-run Bleak House. Another thing I came up with would be a visit to a cemetery (on a sunny morning!) with Van Richten to pay respects at the graves of some of his fallen allies.

Re: Bleak House - Richtens Haus (spoilers)

One problem I had with Richten Haus was with the ghosts of Van Richten's former comrades. Most of my players hadn't read any of the Van Richten Guides, so they didn't know or care about who these people were when they were alive, or what they meant to Rudolph. Some foreshadowing on my part as DM mig...

Re: Quoth the Raven #24: reactions

Loving this at the moment and I've already got an idea who has Brum's coins: Garrett, of the Thief series of video games. I mean, he's stolen pretty much everything else...

Re: Darklords Origins.

Morpheus and Hypnos of the Nightmare Court are named after the Greek gods of dreams and sleep, respectively. The Rainbow Serpent is named after an Aboriginal creator deity. Since we don't (officially) know a lot more about the backgrounds of these three, though, I can't really say if they were based...

Re: Best Haunted House Adventures?

For me, the best haunted house adventures have a good backstory which the players gradually uncover through written notes and ghostly flashbacks. I think ghosts are scarier if the players are given some idea of what kind of people they were in life, especially if they were villains of the sort you w...

Re: Best Haunted House Adventures?

The Ghost of Mistmoor is my all-time favourite. Also, Pathfinder's Haunting of Harrowstone is lots of fun even though it is set in a prison, not a house.

I encountered a very interesting chap called Dominic who suggested that it would be a good idea for me to join... :) Seriously though, it's been the release of Curse of Strahd and the upcoming Strange Aeons Pathfinder stuff that have rekindled my obsession with all things spooky and Ravenloft-ish.

Young Sherlock Holmes. To be honest it's been so long since I saw the movie that I can't remember if it was actually any good, but there are definitely some critters in there which wormed their way into the first Ravenloft Monstrous Compendium!

Re: New to Ravenloft? Or new to our forum? introduce yoursel

Hello everyone! I've been a longtime fan of Ravenloft since the days of the Kargatane website and ran a fairly successful campaign for 2nd ed some time ago (although it ended up mutating into Monty Python's Realm of Dread in the end... :) ). I absolutely love this site and always look forward to lea...
