Re: Children of the Night: The Wild Things
Funnily enough, Kobold Press's products (Tome of Beasts 1-3 & the Creature Codex) have a bunch of really interesting ideas for plants and beasts that I'm going to bring up in this thread (once I have the time today and finish certain grad school homework). So thanks Hell_Born!

Re: The primary masquerade problem of a high-society vampire
I don't think it's entirely impossible, as you can see Vladimir Nobriskov from Children of the Night: Werebeasts 's entire M.O. is to play the socialite vampire while actually being a werebat. And that's in Lechberg, which is even smaller than Levkarest. But I otherwise understand your point and try...

Re: Children of the Night: The Wild Things
On the note of blurring mundane and magical, I have an idea that I shall propose here that I had shared with Jeremy16 and was initially planning to keep specific to the Wildlands. That being the idea of "spandrels", which I borrowed from the Great and Small RPG blog and their write-up of ...

Children of the Night: The Wild Things
It's been a bit since I made a new post on the forums, and given that I have a bunch of posts to respond to or contribute to, it might be a tad irresponsible of me to make another new thread so quickly. Yet here I am! We're all familiar with the various Van Richten's Guides and the Children of the N...

Re: Hazlani Adventuring for Rookies
Mephisto gave some really great points already in this thread so I don't have much to say, but if you're looking for more, I can suggest the following: Maps of Hazlan don't always look the same and add some places. For instance, the Neverwinter Nights Ravenloft fan-server Prisoners of the Mists has ...

Re: Falk-fury rages on!
To somewhat bridge what Five and Mistmaster are saying above, I think Falkovnia's thematic focus depends entirely on the medium one is exploring Falkovnia with or in. If you're writing a novel set in Falkovnia, I think you have a lot more leeway in exploring "the evil that men do". Prose a...

Re: Could Transgenic Humanity fit in Lamordia?
First, I appreciate the name-dropping of a new 3rd party setting----I always like trying to collect and sift through old stuff like that so thanks! Second, I think that it's possible to incorporate this into Lamordia. I'd point to NeoTiamat's Nations of Progress in QtR 22 as a well-beloved example o...

Re: Lamordia: Inspirations, Legends, and Plothooks
I cast Thread Necromancy! Y'know, Lamordia's cold. I know we mentioned this earlier in the thread with the idea of man trying to dominate nature and elements of Frostpunk , as well as Lamordians being a generally closed off and cold people. On that, I was curious, in a very morbid way, what the sui...

Re: Is Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft worth getting if you own all the 2E/3E books?
I was drawn into Ravenloft with Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft, so I'm biased towards it and its remakes despite using official lore from 2e/3e for my games (and overall preferring the latter to the former). As others have said, I really liked the new I'Cath, I appreciated the slight expansion of ...

Re: PC stats for Howling One Calibans?
Perhaps, alongside a "soul-rending shriek", the Howling Ones can be made to be a mix of Witchspawn (somewhat related to what alhoon was saying) and the Banshee strain of caliban? Aside from the "soul-rending shriek", I'd think that there would be some affinity for the Near Ethere...

Re: Intrigue and secrecy in a venice
Masks, and the general themes of intrigue and secrecy, might also find themselves in another place that most might not have thought of: Nosos. Not just the masks that the nobles of that toxic place wear for social events, but the regular masks to avoid infection (think of the Pandemic times) or gas ...

Re: Additional monsters for Hazlan
On a tangential-but-kinda/sorta-still-related note, you're really good at finding imagery to depict the domains in canon, Mephisto, as well as the monsters that you imagine being in there. Any chance you could do that for more than just Hazlan but other domains (that might be the focus of a separate...

Re: Community Idea: Settlements!
Maybe, maybe not---change is a good thing in the land of Mists, and Lady Adeline's been too comfy for too long. Plus, if she goes, then that gives the Baron some chance for character growth, which is nice.
