Here is another from the same paper though it is in the March 21, 1890 edition. It's the story of a suicide of a young lady who was stalked for three years by an unknown tormentor. It's a sad story, but one that may make a good backstory of a restless spirit...or perhaps her tormentor was more than ...

I'll be going to a costume party at a Ballroom Dance Studio in a town near where I live. Since I frequent Renfests I'll be wearing a swashbuckler outfit complete with swepted hilt rapier, cape, feathered hat, and swashtop boots (thought I'll probably have to take the sword off before I take to the f...

Thank you for the reply and for the compliment MSD. In my local group I'm know for my plots, but I struggle with why characters stay together. After all, if I were to encounter something as horrifying as an undead lycanthrope or one of the created and I was somehow able to defeat it along with the h...

What do you start with?

When planning MotRD campaigns do you as DM's base you adventures on the character that the players have genrated or do you start with an idea for a villian and use that as the spring board of campaign creation? I personally usually start with a real world location during the 1890's and search throug...

What haunted sites are in your neck of the woods?

As is the case this time of year I have been a little more inspired to work on my MotRD campaing ideas. One things that always helps aid in this inspiration is the tendency for local newspapers to print articles on some fo the more gothic happenings as Halloween tributes. Has anyone on this forum ha...

As far as possessing entity are you looking for something ghostlike, and a story to go with it, or something of a different sort? Does anything in you storyline thus far give you wany indication of the direction you want to go? I think the idea of running a MotRD game in a pre 1890's time frame is a...

There are some free options on the Ancestry.com site, but I don't think any of those lead to the newpaper I was mentioning.

In case you are interested here is the Link to the newpaper archive that I mentioned:

http://www.newspaperarchive.com/Default.aspx

It also requires a monthly fee to access :(
