Can Half-Vistani be mothers of the GC's children? Can vampires get pregnant? If yes to both, could some half-vistana daughter of Lyssa generate a Dukkar with the GC? Also, why not a Dukkar in the Zarovan (note the difference) line? Ail Anyone woman with Vistani blood could potentially be the mother...

Can I quote you on this, gonzoron? ;) I think it may become very applicable to my character on the epic-level adventuring front.

Totally random note--I chose the "ring and skull" avatar in anticipation of precisely this occasion. I've been planning to have Erik van Rijn become a lich since the framing fiction for the USS 2001. Really? Have you imagined back then that the transformation would be covered in a on-line...

Actually, we split the DMing several ways; roughly two-thirds of Erik van Rijn's posts were written by yours truly. (Van Rijn is my alter ego, so I got the fun of running him, but since he was so important to the action we decided to have him be accessible to all the Fraternity--that is, the out-of-...

Man, David, how do you come up with these ideas?

Oh, wait.

That was MY idea, wasn't it?

Howdy, Maraudar. Good to see I'm not the only one trapped in this region of the Mists. ;)

Here I am! My motives were mixed, in a sense. I thought that casting "mass heal" would a) have the very desirable effect of frying any undead within range, b) heal their victim, and c) cure the human baddies of whatever ailed them. This was deliberately a double-edged effect; I figured tha...

To expand on the idea of an invading power, above--the idea of a foreign power invading Falkovnia is, on the face of it, ridiculous. The only power that would be tempted to in a "normal" world (no closing the borders) is Darkon, and Azalin knows much too much to be drawn into such a thing....

Questions, questions, so many questions. I love this class! Further thoughts: One of the interesting things about this scenario is the fact that one of the major tools of leaders/demagogues who want to unify a people is conspicuously more difficult to use in Ravenloft. One of the great political ta...

It seems to me that the most natural course for things to take would follow the maxim "Every revolution takes on, in time, the robes of those they opposed". (I may have mangled that slightly, but you get the idea.) Random notes before entering the analytic phase: Remember to include the Ra...

I would say that Ravenloft is the perfect place for surprisingly un-evil monsters (by which I mean, monsters which the PCs will be surprised to find are NOT evil), since moral ambiguity is such an important potential element of the setting.

You can use the five articles under my name (Nathan Okerlund) in the Book of Sacrifices, with the same conditions as Steve mentioned.

Re: Darklords

I posted this on the Wizards boards, but traffic seems heavier here. I'm running Root of Evil and modified it so the players could encounter all of the darklords on the way to the final confrontation at Castle Ravenloft. I have Gazetteers I-IV and SotDR, which means I need CR and character levels o...

The other solution is to consider that Fear, Horror, and Madness checks are all intended to be aides to role-playing and can be dispensed with if the characters react appropriately to the fearful, horrifying, or sanity-destroying situation they are faced with. So, as the DM, you are even more justif...
