Swooping in for a moment. I started about eleven to twelve years ago on Advanced Fighting Fantasy. Moved onto AD&D for a while. We then followed the White Wolf system, Vampire and Dark Ages for a long while and then found our way back to D&D last April when I purchased the Draconomicon (If i...

I'm sorry to hear the news Charney. Ravenloft may not be to everyone's taste, but to have the players show at least an indirect active disinterest is disappointing. A DM's worst nightmare maybe... well things can still work out for the better, and I hope they do.

The book seems to have some interesting ideas.. just the sort of thing to shock the players by throwing something not normally found in gothic horror at them (and erasers don't count here.) The authors were influenced by Ravenloft (or at least one of them was,) so hopefully they will build upon what...

It would be good to know how that goes. I will be running my Halloween/St. Crispin's Day on the 29th of October. Okay , not quite Halloween (or St. Crispin's Day for that matter [25th of October],) but it's close enough for me to focus the session espeically in this case. My group have just taken th...

Why do I recall a similar conversation not too long ago.....

Very interesting... and looks to be a little tricky to acquire in the UK.

I found Dragons World and The Last Dragon, which look like they're from the same series.

I think the way the story of the Phantom of the Opera went, almost everything was already there to be used in Ravenloft. With a few changes, like what was done for Strahd, we have another Dark Lord. I would advise caution when working on the music theme around this idea... the Phantom was capable of...

I can't vote on this as I tend to move focuses as the plot demands it. Nothing tends to stand out the most in my campaigns.

Though the Necromancer player in my campaign prefers to summon Zombies at the moment. Yes, summon, not animate.

I've experienced similar problems in slightly different cases, but what I found was best in the end was to take a top-down approach. This started with figuring out the overall details of the village. Size, main trade, government, main plot threads et cetera... then think about all the appropriate lo...

I use gpdf to read the documents, which has meant I'm having difficulties in reading Van Richten's guide to the Mists (I don't trust the Linux version of Adobe and I'm loath to boot up Windows just for reading a document.) So if you could avoid whatever madness White Wolf injected into that book, I ...

I haven't read the first Ravenloft adventure (I6), but I have read the second, The House on Gryphon Hill and that was designed for 8th to 10th level characters (admittedly AD&D). I can easily see Ravenloft working for mid to high level adventures.. it's just a matter of perspective. I think Desd...

I think that could be a very interesting idea. I've thought about the demographics and all in loose terms it's intresting to know how few Dragons Ravenloft can support (Ravenloft also seems to have very few other Huge size or larger living [id est must sleep, eat et cetera...] creatures.) I could pe...

What I will be doing to record the sound is connecting the left main output (on the synthesizer) to the sound card input. This will mean that a jack plug converter will be required (to convert a 1/4" plug to 1/8" or vice versa.) Perhaps you could do the same. The MIDI is used to record my ...

Sounds interesting. I would be interested hearing in the end result. Is this board blessed with more individuals with musically creative talents? I'm sure there's a few more out there (should stop grinning when I say that and hide my fangs...) That's another section I didn't think of before. General...

For remixes or translations (into other formats) of existing work, permission must be obtained from the copyright owner - whether for profit or not. Most artists recognize that fan remixes actually help their sales as people usually look for the original song if they like the remixed version. So get...

Once I can convince my PC that there is a MIDI port available, I'll be looking at creating music for my Ravenloft sessions. This could include work such as mood or themes. As I recall, music copy right last for around fifty years before they become public domain. I'm just looking into the matter abo...
