I'm thinking something the size of a city would be needed to have enough to work with for a campaign. It's not too big but not too small and the PCs would have some room to adventure in. Perhaps an island can be used. I was thinking that the mists would keep out the undesirables while also keeping e...

MotRD IN Ravenloft?!

I know I know this plan is something akin to sacreligious but remember rule #1, "the GM is always right." I'm thinking about placing a small part of the MotRD world in the Ravenloft setting and giving it it's own domain. The crux of the campaign would be that something so evil, so a...

I saw this on Amazon.com while looking for a book titled "The Gothic", "The Rise of Supernatural Fiction, 1762-1800" edited by E.J. Clery, et al.

Not sure if this helps but worth a shot.

Also going with the scientist theme I'm planning on using Monte Cook's Chaositech rules for mutants. Mutants created by a...mad doctor! I'm using Baltimore as my setting so the premise of the doctor is he was not invited to join the staff of the new Johns Hopkins hospital because of certain unethica...

I looked at the Shadow Chasers system and it seems like it could fit well into an 1890s style campaign.

I was also looking at the Living Death rules. Most of what's in the MotRD 3.5 book is in there it appears.

Yeah there's alot about Holmes that can't be fit into a short thread like this. I was a little surprised the authors of the MotRD book didn't use him when they wrote about the main baddies. Perhaps it was because he got caught? Another historical figure I haven't seen in this thread yet is Ma...

What Character Creation System?

I'm just wondering what character creation system people are using for their Gothic Earth campaigns? Until recently I was using the MotRD book but after reading some reviews of it some people have said they use the d20 Modern rules. Long time tabletopper here but not so long playing MotRD. What syst...

Thought I'd add something to the conversation. Read 'The Devil in the White City" for a better description of Holmes. Herman Mudgett aka H.H Holmes (NE) Psychotic Criminal/Murderer As a child Herman was fascinated with the skeletons hanging in his Vermont doctor’s office. To meet him then one w...

I just dont think MotRD is more than a niche in the RPing market. The Victorian setting does hold it back for alot of people and that just cant be helped. I'm writing this as a HUGE fan of the 1800s setting though but my nerdiness doesnt translate to most others :) My best sourcebook for MotRD is no...

Grand Guignol?

Anyone use the Grand Guignol in their MotRD campaign? Thinking about adding it to mine and wondered if it worked for anyone else?
