Re: CONFIRMED: Ravenloft for 5th Edition
To be fair, the Vistani have always been able to go in and out the Domains of Dread long before 3E. Wait what?! They could come in, not go out from what I recall. From Evil Eye : There are two reasons why Raul, a Vistana, may not be in Ravenloft at the start of the adventure. Raul may be a ...

Re: Ethereal plane on ravenloft? Help please!
On this subject, I bow to the wisdom of folks who are far better versed in the canon of Ravenloft; however, my understanding is that the "Near Ethereal" was created to explain how Ravenloft can have things in the ethereal plane, BUT the ethereal plane can't be used to escape Ravenloft. I d...

Finally. This is the Ravenloft that I've been wanting to play since 1983.
You guys keep making the setting better!

Also, check out the description of Touch of Death. I've DM'ed that adventure twice, and it bore no resemblance to that solicitation. In fact, I'd LOVE to get my hands on the adventure they were advertising. That sounds like a lot of fun!!!

Re: Quoth the Raven #22 - Submissions Open
Hmm. A thought, but perhaps I can dig out some of the old Fae Netbook material (particularly the Midnight Market), clean it up a bit, and send it in. Would anyone be interested in this? At least one person here :) Probably a second one as well. While I have been silent for quite some time on these ...

Re: Pathfinder Occult Adventures
My take on this book is very similar to IrvyneWolfe's. If I were in high school and could still devote 80% of my mental energy to mastering a role-playing game, I would scoop this book up in a second and put it to frequent, frequent use. As it is, the level of complexity involved in these characters...

Re: Ravenloft 3e pdfs?
Totally agreed! There are a few things that I'm really missing that I couldn't afford before the pdf's vanished the first time. I'm thinking of those two Van Richten's Guides...MAN! Of all the things to run out of money before buying...

Re: Can anybody tell me where the 3.0/3.5 Ravenloft books we
They were definitely available, but when Wizards took back the license for Ravenloft, they all went away. I can't remember if there was a going-away sale or not, but I know that they had a specific date, after which no books of pdfs would be sold. I didn't the money to fill out my collection at the ...

Re: D&D Classics
At one time, White Wolf did have their Ravenloft material available on DriveThru, but when the license reverted, they were forced to take it all down.

Re: Kargat's ghosts.
If they are tied to a place, they can't move so make them strategy masterminds, or history secrets specialists, or just simply guardians of that place. Or make them tied to an item, which spies can carry inside a house / fortress they need the ghosts to explore. Or send it by mail ;) "Oh, what...

Alhoon--Love this!
I've struggled with exactly this same quandary over the years. This is a great example of how it could work!

Re: Modernizing Ravenloft
I can't speak to DMing Masque of the Red Death, but I can say that I had a rare opportunity to play in the setting for a year-long campaign. It was a blast. The DM was very talented, and very knowledgeable of the Victorian era. In terms of flavor, it was great, and I have to say that the rules never...

Re: Ravenloft and Chill 1st Edition
Hi, Galeros! I played the original Chill boxed set back in the late 80s, and it was a blast. I also ran some adventures in the (second edition?) black hardback version of the game. My personal preference was the rules as presented in the hardback, but the adventures presented for the classic mid-80s...

Re: Grim Harvest trilogy.
Of course, this may not work for everyone, but I changed it to ability damage. I had the daggers drain Constitution. While potentially debilitating, it wasn't as impactful as losing a level. Since the damage was permanent, though--You don't gain Con the way you gain levels--it really motivated the P...
