Re: Mass effect 3

Source? Link? http://me3finalhours.com/ - plenty of insight into how rushed and harried things were right up until the deadline. The specific Mac Walters quote I'm thinking of was... "Originally, with the Catalyst, the Star Child at the end of the game, I had written that much more in the guis...

Re: Mass effect 3

BioWare is a subsidiary of EA, which means it's still a seperate entity: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subsidiary It retains its management and staff, the owners are just another corporation and not an individual. Instead of reporting to stakeholders, they report to another company. Not exactly true...

Re: Mass effect 3

It's not EA. EA has nothing to do with it. At all. EA is just the owner publisher. They sign the cheques and collect the extra profits and are the boss' boss to the folk at BioWare, who are the people involved in the ending. They're really the only ones involved, and as long as they keep making mon...

Re: The 2E Era Modules/Supplements

Thanks, Lesser Evil. Think I have Dragon 212 in a box somewhere, but I'll definitely have to check out the other issues you mentioned.

Masque is such a great setting, IMO. Sadly, it just didn't get much support in terms of published material.

Nightmare Castle. Old black and white Italian gothic horror at its finest.

Renaming Magic Items for Gothic Earth

One thing that all incarnations of MotRD/Gothic Earth appear to have in common is a low-magic setting. In the 2E 'Guide to Gothic Earth', it is suggested that any and all magic items be renamed (a +2 sword becomes the fire of the morning sun because it was forged in Japan, etc). Has anyone ever atte...

Re: Mass effect 3

How is that different? In both cases, it's DLC to cover people coming in late. Difference is, Zaeed is not an essential part of the series' lore like a Prothean is. Much as I liked Zaeed, he's just a guy with a gun who likes killing things. You can't even have proper conversations with him outside ...

Re: Mass effect 3

The ME2 DLC was free though. And really it was just a cover to maximize profits from anyone who waited and bought the game second-hand. Ahh... EA. Businessmen first.

Re: Mass effect 3

I think much of the fan outrage over ME3 stems from comments made by the producers and execs at EA/BioWare before the release of the game. Casey Hudson told a massive whopping lie to the gaming media when he said the game would contain MANY different endings and be personalized to your save game bas...

Re: The 2E Era Modules/Supplements

Thanks for the response. I've downloaded all of the netbook material in the Library. Fantastic stuff, all of it. The RPGA modules, yeah, can barely find any trace of them. They seem quite interesting, based on what little information I can gather. I'd readily purchase them if the powers that be ever...

Re: Fantastic Source for Gothic Plots...

You could stat up the Silence no problem. The tricky thing is incorporating their ability to make people forget they've seen them. You can do it for NPC's, but you can't tell a player to completely disregard the scary screaming monster that's just made them soil themselves because their character 'd...

Re: Actual Running Games

I have a PbP game going with a friend that has shifted to Ravenloft after starting out in a homebrew fantasy setting. Couldn't have planned it better: during his first adventure, the PC ended up inadvertently causing the death of a NPC who had some gypsy blood in her. I decided at that point why not...

Re: Fantastic Source for Gothic Plots...

The Silence from the latest series would be a really creepy adversary on Gothic Earth too. The design of the creatures is apparently based on The Scream by Edvard Munch. I believe Munch produced his first version of the painting in 1893 -- perfect timing for a MotRD adventure! What if The Scream was...

Re: Fantastic Source for Gothic Plots...

Oooh -- I hate to necro-bump, the OP may never even read this, but using Doctor Who for MotRD scenario ideas is inspired! Some of the original novels would make for great Victorian era horror stories... White Darkness - set in Haiti during WWI, but you could easily move it back a few years to the 18...

The 2E Era Modules/Supplements

My fiancee and I are about to embark upon a 2nd edition game of MotRD and I'm on the lookout for any modules/supplements I might have missed. So far I have: -Guide to Gothic Earth + The Red Trilogy (the boxed set) -Jigsaw (Dungeon 61) -Falls Run (Dungeon 67) -Dark Magic in New Orleans (Dungeon 71) -...
