QtR#7: Favorite Fiction

With a few weeks having gone by and more people having had a chance to read through this issue, I thought I would ask what you enjoyed about the fiction that was submitted. Did you have a favorite story? Which one was it and why did you like it so much? Anything you would recommend to the author(s) ...

Malocchio Aderre sat impatiently on his throne as the soldier walked back to the large entrance and opened the doors. Although the Lord of Invidia knew that company would be coming, he did not know whom they would be or what they would want. With the current state of affairs, he would not tolerate ...

Malocchio Aderre sat alone in his hall as he contemplated the current twist of events. In the past fifty years, he had broken the Vistani curse upon him, conquered three other domains, and had his curse reestablished upon him. While he had been busy and “productive” over the years, he could not sol...

Huh... that category didn't exist when I cast my vote... Sorry about that, Cole. I had included it when I initially created the thread, but there was some sort of glitch that caused it to be excluded. The missing option didn't become apparent until later that day, and I fixed it at that time. :?

Charonne Willowbrook took a deep breath and let it out in a slow and deliberate sigh. The past fifty years in this demiplane had been rough on him, and he had already been getting old when he came here in pursuit of a bounty. Rubbing the ache out of his shoulders, the memories of his arrival and fr...

A halfling walks a fine line...

My name is Banob Brin, and I am a halfling from the city of Waterdeep. I have endured and survived many adventures as my companions and I traveled across the lands of Faerun, but none of that prepared me for the day that the Mists came and took me away… While it has been more than fifty years since...

Wha-hoo! Dark Sun is in the lead! Hate to break it to you, but Dark Sun is now tied for the lead... While it is difficult for me to pick just one setting, I would have to say that Planescape holds a special place in my heart. I loved the concept of traveling across the multiverse and experie...

Favorite Non-Ravenloft Settings

With all the talk about Ebberon being released, I thought that it was appropriate for us to go "old school" and reminisce about previous campaign settings. In particular, what were your favorites settings and why? Did you enjoy traveling with genies in Al~Qadim? Did you prefer battling the...

DM Style: Silk Glove or Iron Fist

What style do you, as a DM, tend to favor when you are running a game? Do you tend to have a “hands-off” approach (silk glove), and let the players make a lot of their own decisions? Or do you tend to have a set plan for each game and tend to steer them through the various points (iron fist)? I tend...

The House Rules

Below this message, you will find a list of the house rules for the “Halfling walks” series. These are rules that have developed during the course of the story. While most of the rules should be pretty obvious, I felt that it was better to have something in writing and posted for all to see. Rule #1...

Cast of Characters

Rather than spreading character descriptions throughout the various threads, I decided to put up a board where you can give as much or as little information about your characters as you wish. You can give as much (or as little detail) as you wish, but I would appreciate everyone giving at least a fe...
