Re: On the topic of Fantastic Racism
 But what if the mob is firmly convinced that demihumans are evil fairies? It seems to me that if the DM exempts the PCs from powers checks for slaughtering villagers they mistakenly believe to be "death cultists" then it's only fair to extend the same cover to the villagers, in reg...

Re: On the topic of Fantastic Racism
My approach to fantastic racism is basically everybody starts off racist, even the players, and experience of the other races tends to either dismiss or reinforce prejudice. So a 1st level PC dwarf is going to think that elves are effeminate scum but a 10th level NPC dwarf is probably going to have ...

Re: Weird Strahd + Tatyana thought
Kinda OT but a thought led to a thought. There's something of the Miss Haversham about Strahd in this set up, raising a beautiful child for his own dark purposes while wedding cake moulders in the other room... had to do some research to understand what you were meaning there. I had never heard of ...

Re: Power's Check Struggle
I'll be honest, I don't think it warrants it, whether they'd "signed up" to the idea they were willing through inaction to see someone murdered, they had it coming say I. If you still want a curse, then something that does damage mindlessly, or is perceived to do so, Path of the Minotaur m...

Re: Campaign Reboot! What do you think about it?
My two pennies on a group that might be responsible, the Van Richten Society has a diverse membership with a varied ethical outlook and a wide array of skill sets. While Van Richten and his colleagues tend toward caution regarding the use of "darker" forces there is no prohibition amongst ...

Re: Weird Strahd + Tatyana thought
I wonder how much of Ravenloft might be changed for this endeavour? Would a suite of rooms be turned over to the task, or might the whole castle be affected somewhat? Would Strahd wish to attend to every aspect of her education? Might he hire a suitably stern Governess? How young was the infant when...

Sorry, but does this mean that Werewolves live openly as such? or that Verbrekans are aware that some in their number are Werewolves but don't know who?Mistmaster wrote:The characters do know that in Verbrek Werewolves are reckognized inhabitants.

Re: The War in the Core
The other possibility of course is that Jacques may end up doing something that Jacqueline should have at least considered doing a long time ago, and end up being lucky enough to find that somewhere in the Drakov line/among the other acceptable Falkovnian brides to be there is a female Natural Were...

Re: 5E Curse of Strahd - Help, Strahd has Ireena! (Spoilers)
In addition, the process of creating "brides" as opposed to vampire spawn is quite involved, containing several stages occurring over a period of time, this gives you options as to how far along in her transformation she has progressed, and as Ron points out, after a certain point killing ...

Re: Mad Idea: Castle Ravenloft is too central!
Also it makes the whole, "summoned to the castle", thing make more sense, if Strahd can just turn up, exsanguinate, and depart, surely he'd do that, and burgomeisters wouldn't dread the missive that summoned them to the seat of government

Re: What if Louise Renier became a darklord
I'd make her a Darklord outside Richemulot, actually. Maybe in a little patch of land halfway between Richemulot and Verbrek, where she can't amass the wealth to create a land that can stand the comparison to her sister's domain. Her land is in constant danger of being physically assaulted by lycan...

Re: The Abbot of St Markovia (Spoilers for CoS)
In 5E 9 out of 10 Barovians don't have souls? I'm not sure about the numbers, bit the soulless Barovians are apparently a thing in Curse o' Strahd, yeah. They really went grimdrak with it. Or such is my limited impression. Alhoon could tell you much more. This is one of the things that I like with ...
