Re: Domain on the month: Verbrek.
What do the werewolves fear? Monstrous beasts who move beneath the moonlight secure in their place in the wilds of Verbrek as ordained by their god, a human might be excused with saying there is nothing the monster fear. But for all their gifts and powers, werewolves are not so different from men. I...

Re: How big is Forlorn
Okay, so checking the book its... a little less absurd? Kinda? 9 miles by 17 miles...153 square miles. Still sounds way way bigger than it should be to me, but not the insanity of domains like G'henna in Circle of Darkness that are supposed to be hundreds of miles long.

How big is Forlorn
Since Castles Forlorn gives a proportion bigger than the size of the entire fricking Core, how big do you guys estimate the domain really is?

Re: How big is your core?
My probably unhelpful answer is that the Core is as big as I need it to be. I usually don't even consider official size at all. My domain is as big as I need it to be for the town, the dungeon, the Vistani tribe in the woods, whatever I want to put into the adventure. Same philosophy when it comes t...

Borders and Fonts
This is such a weird question, but bear with me. You know how when we have in-character text and out-of-character game information in works like the Van Richten Guides or the Gazetteers? How do you create a table with the "parchment" like border those books provide? And on a similar vein, ...

Re: Domain on the month: Verbrek.
When he was still the lord of Arkandale Nathan Timothy maintained a virtual monopoly on travel along the Musarde over his borders. By employing his werewolf enforcers to attack any ship that had not paid his shipping fees Nathan was able to cultivate an upperclass of riverthanes by playing favorites...

Re: Domain on the month: Verbrek.
A quick look at the old Ravenloft maps in the Realm of Terror "Black Box" (the best pre-Conjunction map available) shows a strange contradiction in locales in Verbrek. Specifically the location of the Circle. Originally it was in the far south near the Arden River. Now its located in the N...

Re: Domain on the month: Verbrek.
Blasphemy! A new cult to the Wolf God has arisen in southeastern Verbrek, near the Invidian border and the former boundary of Arkandale. This cult is entirely human, and seemingly has earned the impossible feat of invoking the Wolf God's clerical magic. The ideology of the cult glorifies the hunt ab...

Re: Paladin's alignment in Ravenloft
Also, we are making assumptions about how Elena governs her domain. She might realize that her zealotry might intimidate "fledgling" paladins. She remembers how she used to be...how Lady Shadowborn always was. So she trains the rank and file the way she was taught. She keeps an eye on her ...

Mist Traveling
Kinda a basics of the basic question....how long do you assume traveling the mist takes? Does the journey ever vary? Do travelers ever have to make "camp" in your games?

Re: I'Cath Gazeteer
I actually had a fondness for the extreme simplicity of I'Cath, with its limited population and points of interaction. Its section in Islands of Terror evoked a certain quote in my mind, about how the description was "absurdly specific... practically an instruction manual on destroying" t...

Re: Van Richten's guide to Eldritch horror.
This is a classical Lovecraftian approach, more knowledge equalř less sanity. I do not share such purview, in my hopínion is the lack of understanding which breeds horror. The more you know the less you fear. Classical Lovecraft, yes. But not just Lovecraft. Gothic horror is certainly no stranger t...

Re: Van Richten's guide to Eldritch horror.
Wanted to offer some ideas about chapters I’d include in this work. In no particular order. 1. Humanity- a discussion on the human mind and what becomes of it as knowledge of eldritch horrors and their alien societies increases. Madness, certainly. Danger of drawing their attention? Likely. Physical...

Re: Van Richten's guide to Eldritch horror.
I wonder, should the guide feature a ranking system like Ghost Magnitudes, Mummy Ranks, Vampire Age Categories, and so on? Perhaps call it something like Distortion or the like. A rough measure of how alien and warped a Horror is compared to contemporary mundane reality. The greater the Distortion o...

Re: Van Richten's guide to Eldritch horror.
I intended to have one of the major NPC's of Dominia a Thaani, and get into some of the Ildi'Thaan in her backstory. Probably more evidence that I was biting off more than I could chew. Hope I'm not intruding on a touchy subject here. I was wondering if you could elaborate on what you planned for t...
