Re: BREAKING NEWS: This just happened! (DMsGuild)

Cause we like sharing our ideas with the world? The same reason this site exists I would say. No. You shouldn't want to do that because it would be a bad deal for you. :lucas: I commented on the different issues I see with the DmsG over here (as Raphael Pinthus): http://odd74.proboards.com/thread/1...

Re: BREAKING NEWS: This just happened! (DMsGuild)

JUST ONE THING PEOPLE! don't forget our home . I fully intend to keep supporting Quoth the Raven that has been here for ... is it 12 years? 13? During the good times and the bad. And of course make free stuff for DMGuild. But my first and foremost loyalty is to our fraternity. That. Besides, the pa...

Re: CONFIRMED: Ravenloft for 5th Edition

I don't think they legally CAN use the 3E material from a different company There's no way they licensed their stuff out to Arthaus without a clause saying they could use whatever Arthaus added. It's generally possible, because of what people call "the autonomy of the source" - meaning, t...

Re: CONFIRMED: Ravenloft for 5th Edition

To be fair, the new tarokka deck looks spectacular. Yeah, "Curse" might well un-grognard me, for once. Looks nice, and after EtCR, the infamous book without the ending chapter, it actually looks like WotC is putting in some work this time, rather than aiming for a last cash grab before th...

Re: CONFIRMED: Ravenloft for 5th Edition

It's not that bad. [...] It's arguably better than Paizo with it's six $20 AP volumes, the related campaign expansion book, the map folio, and pawn set. To say nothing of the dozen books or so expected to run a campaign. Exactly my point. It's not about the money; I just plainly don't have the time...

Re: CONFIRMED: Ravenloft for 5th Edition

Don't be a cynic Raf! And the Hickmans are involved, they're not the ones writing the module. Hehe, I am sorry, old friend! :) I know I sound a lot like that. I wish the project all the best, and I sincerely hope it, well, does not tank. I am, however, a pretty disillusioned with the hobby's genera...

Re: CONFIRMED: Ravenloft for 5th Edition

Could be promising, but I am not holding my breath; the Hickmans did one great module (I 6), and one so-so module (I 10). The Ravenloft we know and love is Bruce Nesmith's and William W. Connors' baby; not to speak about the owners of that suspicious little bookstore in Valaki. - Not to sound like t...

Re: 5e announced!

I didn't plan to mention "domains of dread" as I assume that's copyrighted material. Nor I will mention "Dark Powers" and "Powers check". Just "Incomprehensible forces and powers that the human mind cannot understand due to its mortal imperfection" and leave ...

Re: 5e announced!

With my old "Ravenloft: Origins" game, I'd usually be right up Wizbro's alleyway; essentially, it was a reboot of RL within the FR continuity, with the twist of Ezra and Tatyana being the same person. - I might even pitch it to them, come time, but as of now, I first want to see what kind ...

Re: 5e announced!

Doesn't work like that, lamentably. Each and every item is considered as a separate entity, via US copyright law. This means, in a nutshell, that you have to stand accountable not just for "Ravenloft", but also for "Strahd", "Barovia", and so on. - I oversaw some docume...

:lucas: Hijacking this one!

Here I was, looking for the annual state of the union update. - So, this is the great news of the year? Or, is there anything else going on in the Land of Mists that could be worth a look? Fan projects, or perhaps even new stuff by the old authors, maybe?

Yeah, how sad. That's where you folks recruited me, so many years back.

Can you believe those boards were up for 17 years?! We're getting old, my misty brothers and sisters! :lucas:

Re: Boy, have WE grown old! :)

Small addendum: Finally, at least five years too late, I got that Raven tattoo that I had always wanted. Not really that related to RL, but really, it's nice to think of it, sometimes. Thanks for making me read good books, guys and gals. Not sure how this instagram thing works, but here's a link to ...
