Some of your most original curses?
So i'm gonna curse one of my players. This is gonna be the final word of a minor boss in our current adventure, and i'd like it to be a nice annoying curse. I want it to have a way to be cleansed ofcourse (beside remove curse, that i think i will not allow, it would be too easy). The party is compos...

Re: D&d & in game time?
There's only one way to "play the game wrong": Play it in a way that the people involved (including the DM) don't have fun. As such, make any change you like to the game including this or any other house rule. If it works and people have fun? Good. If it doesn't? Remove it again. Thank yo...

How do you portray Van Richten, Watermay-Foxgrove, And VRS?
As title says, i'm gonna introduce my player to VRS. They will meet Van Richten soon, and even though i read a lot about him, i dont really know how to portray/introduce him when I roleplay. I thought he should be a grim and gritty old man, that always seem to keep some disgraceful and sinister secr...

Re: D&d & in game time?
I find the system you suggest punishing and arbitrary. That's like saying "Gods punish people that take their time". Bad things don't happen to patient people because they took a few more minutes except in dangerous situations. Hence the "take 20" rule. A door in the dungeon loo...

D&d & in game time?
Hi, It's been a while! I have a problem with the in game time. To me it seems that for players there is no downside in take more time to accomplish some tasks (Looking for traps, secret Doors, trasures, rest after combat, or maybe build something). What i mean is that Irl we tend to try to accomplis...

Re: How do you set the mood and set atmosphere in your game?
My group has multiple locations so I take my pc and run music I need or use youtube to run the tracks I need. I make it a point never to say the creatures name until after the group has identified it or think they have. I couple players mentioned they have had bad dreams from the first adventure NO...

Re: NPC vs PC Social skill? How do you handle it?
thanks all! Every bit of information is useful! If you have some other examples of actual roleplay they will be really apreciated! It's how they are portrayed by you (as you are the eyes and ears for their world).... That was really helpful! Examples always help me more than theory  . Now I see...

Re: NPC vs PC Social skill? How do you handle it?
Sometimes my players will ask to use Insight on NPCs they encounter to get a better read on them. I secretly oppose their check with the NPC's Deception, Intimidation, or Persuasion, depending on whether the character wants to conceal something, look menacing, or influence the heroes. If the PC fai...

Re: How do you handle spell component in your campaign?
Nox, in my hopinion, you shouldn't have retconned; you made an error with the rules, point it out, but changing what happened in a whole session look unjustified to me. Acqua passata non macina più. (Past water can't move the grind stone, anymore, for the not italian speaking) Thank you, but the re...

How do you handle spell component in your campaign?
I just came across a problem. I have a wizard in my group, and 'till now i did not ask for any particular spell component. We just stated that whenever they reach a city he looks for components and that's it. Yesterday we had a problem during our session. He used alter self and none of us did know t...

Re: Help Translating wolfwere!
Why do they need a proper specific italian name indeed? ;) Wolfwere being mysterious and uncommon, some people could call them with different names. Like the walkers, the roamers, the biters, dead ones, lurkers, ... (all names used in Walking Dead instead of "zombies"). Wolfwere are so ra...

Salem!
I'm just watching this TV serie. Honestly, when i saw the trailer i thought that this serie would've been a bunch of garbage. Now that I saw few episode I think it fits a lot the Ravenloft mood. The story per se is not brilliant, but I enjoy watching it since It is giving me a lot of cues on witchcr...

NPC vs PC Social skill? How do you handle it?
I noticed many NPC, monsters, and creatures in general have skill point in Intimidation, Diplomacy, Persuasion... This make me think that you should actually use those skill, otherwise what's the point of investing anything in them? what's the point of even mentioning that skill if a monster is not ...

Re: Metaphysician and Astral projection?
Thanks! I did not notice that many errors when i read, but now... wow  . The delusion effect is worthless at this point, right? I mean, the PC would not see the astral plane (nor the other planes at all), so I suppose he should not go mad at all... Unless he's deluded into thinking he sees al...

Re: Help Translating wolfwere!
Considering my .... tongues. Thank you very much for your hint. Actually Trickster Jackal (or any other animal) is a good hint! Sadly we speak only italian and i'm the only one who speaks english (ehm, more or less.. ). My friend understand english a bit but they usually need my help to c...
