A good source for this kind of a darklord would be the book "If I were an Evil Overlord". This anthology has a number a good short stories based on the evil overlord list. Where can I find this book? The most Ravenloftian story is "Stronger than Fate", which follows an overlord ...

May 17, 752 BC Ugh, first time in two weeks since I’ve written in here…not that I was in any condition to. Where to begin, the day following Tobodin’s arrival into our party: We all woke up before dawn just to be sure that the daybreak’s shifting pseudo-borders didn’t overwhelm us. True to Tobodin’s...

The Evil Overlord DL

Out of curiosity, has anyone here been tempted to make a DL using the Evil Overlord list. And for those who don't know what I'm talking about (what rock have YOU been hiding under?) http://www.eviloverlord.com/lists/overlord.html

Finally, I'm back. Just started a new job and I have a lot to prove (not to mention, I'm having writer's block with this part of the story). As a result, the Jagged Shoals story is going to have to take a backseat while I work on my new job, my campaign, and a few other short stories that I've been ...

Best Silver Age-style "Clown Prince of Crime"? Cesar Romero, yes yes. Best Iron Age-style Joker? Ledger, so far. Best in-between-- an evil funster who can turn surprisingly nasty? Hamill's going to be holding that title for a long time. As anyone noticed how Mark seems to get typecast as ...

Please note that Crystal Spheres never states that T'Laan becomes a darklord, just that he can (at the DM's discretion) be pulled into the demiplane at the last moment before total destruction. True, but I can't see him as anything less. Effectively destroy one sphere, darken another, and create a ...

Re: The Joker in Ravenloft

After watching The Dark Knight I started thinking that Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker would make a great Ravenloft villain. As a sadistic, pyschotic nihilist, Ledger's Joker is genuinely scary. Morever, the Joker's motivation to lead others down the path of insanity and corruption would work...

I said "methods." To be truly chaotic, one must occasionally follow the law. Unfortunately, I'm neutral.

Can someone explain to me the why's and how's of Azalin is a gothic villian? I mean, he's great and I love his curse but he seems a touch out of place in terms of Gothic villianny. Even Death has something Gothic about him (the irony that he's the only living thing in a city of undead).

Mithral (mithril, mythril) and adamantium (adamant, adamantine) are metals that get used a lot in the fantasy and sci-fi genres. The name of the latter is no doubt a reference to the hardness and strength of diamonds. I'm the slow kid, Tykus. What exactly does the map mean? [sigh] When you g...
