Re: Help! Strange/monstrous PC: handling npc reaction?
Most normal locals would avoid the player (making signs of protection as they back away) and may avoid dealing with the other (known) party members as well. A 'quick' example of what powerful NPCs might do/order others to do would be the town guard being called upon to bring the PC to a cleric who ...

Re: How do you portray Van Richten, Watermay-Foxgrove, And V
An odd twist on the introduction of Van Richten? Have the players get bested by a monster that captures them (vampire/ghost/werecreature for food source, mummy/lich for rituals, golem for curiosity's sake) when the group uses conventional methods (hack and slash, combat spell use, etc) that obviousl...

Re: D&d & in game time?
Time being a factor in my games usually has one of three situations. 1) The party is under no time constraints and can go at their own paces to handle the situations (most down time, already cleared the castle/dungeon/area of danger, etc). 2) The party is under time constraints and must act accordin...

Re: Best Haunted House Adventures?
Thanks, guys! So what about these adventures makes them memorable to you? What would convince you to run them over another haunted house adventure? Without commentating on the above adventures, I always like ghost/haunted house adventures because the players cannot usually succeed in defeating the ...

Re: NPC vs PC Social skill? How do you handle it?
thanks all! Every bit of information is useful! If you have some other examples of actual roleplay they will be really apreciated! It's how they are portrayed by you (as you are the eyes and ears for their world).... That was really helpful! Examples always help me more than theory  . Now I se...

Re: NPC vs PC Social skill? How do you handle it?
I noticed many NPC, monsters, and creatures in general have skill point in Intimidation, Diplomacy, Persuasion... This make me think that you should actually use those skill, otherwise what's the point of investing anything in them? what's the point of even mentioning that skill if a monster is not...

Re: How do you handle spell component in your campaign?
I just came across a problem. I have a wizard in my group, and 'till now i did not ask for any particular spell component. We just stated that whenever they reach a city he looks for components and that's it. Yesterday we had a problem during our session. He used alter self and none of us did know ...

Re: Help Translating wolfwere!
Considering my Italian doesn't extend farther than the cuisine (too be fair, I used to work in an Italian restaurant) and my proficiency in Spanish is a joke, I do have a suggestion. Instead of playing with the words and trying to make them make some sense to the players, just refer to them as somet...

Re: First time doing Grand Conjunction
I am also in the process of doing the Grand Conjunction for my players who are Ravenloft veterans, but never did the adventure series before. My HUGE recommendation to you is to search these forums for advice and details on how to better integrate the modules for your use as they are terribly cobble...

Re: A Safe house for my players?
They have no place of their own, they just woke up in a cave without any memories and find themselves in the events of NotWD. I like the leomund's secure shelter, but i find it very powerful for my players. I find it quite high fantasy for my standard, and 2 times a week is a lot (depending also on...

Re: A Safe house for my players?
I had similar questions for the forum a while back (do your players have a place of their own or are they always on the move?) and the results were typically mixed. I had/have a recent GC campaign where the players are based out of Darkon (for now) and are actually supported by Azalin and his people...

Re: Strahd and Azalin: A Bard's Tale
This is fantastic! I am so using this. Go for it (it's one of the reasons why we're here), but I took a few liberties assuming this was a Barovian storyteller (given the little I know about CoS, the majority of it takes place in Barovia and the 'meeting with a member of the Watcher family'). Feel f...
