Welcome back, Tadelin.

Gonzoron definitely has it right, no one ever truly leaves. I've taken extended absences of over a year due to life related stuff. The mists always drag us back in in the end.

Re:

I really, REALLY love the Buffy magic system, and think it could fit Ravenloft nicely...I just think that Drama points could make players entirely too bold for Ravenloft. All Flesh Must Be Eaten. It uses a variant of the Unisystem but much grittier and deadly to the PCs, and more importantly, witho...

Re: RL Horror

In regards to the 2012 predictions: I read somewhere that archaeologists realized that they had, in fact, translated the Mayan stuff wrong. The Mayan 'doomsday' date in fact probably happened fifty years ago. Or will happen in fifty years. :p Or, more likely, they realized that the Mayan calendar w...

Re: 4e Dragonborn to Gargoyles?

So far I've only had one player ever ask to play a dragonborn in Ravenloft. He fluffed the character as being the victim of a particularly nasty curse that transformed him into the monstrosity, and stayed hidden in a rather baggy hooded cloak. This meant that dragonborn aren't really a race in the g...

Re: The great fire of....

Was I the only one that on seeing a thread about major city-devastating fires in Ravenloft flashed back to the end of the Secrets of the Kargatane site and Vallaki? Sure it was fan-written, but I remember a rather spectacular fire being mentioned in the town at the end of Nine of Hearts tied into th...

This is so very incredibly true. I think it was best put on Buffy the Vampire Slayer by Giles: "People have a tendency to forget what they can, and rationalize what they can’t."

Re: Epic Ravenloft

Random ideas for messing with epic PC's: * Give them the wishing imp and stand back * The villain is keeping a worse evil at bay * Good people need the villain to stay alive Looks like DeepShadow beat me to it. I was going to say something about the wishing imp. After its introduction into just one...

Re: A domain or land like Scotland?

I'll look through my old documents and see if I can locate the homebrew domain for you Nikolai. Hopefully it's one of the files that survived the demise of my old computer. (I lost a lot of my work on Monte Mal, my Republic of Venice inspired domain.)

Re: A domain or land like Scotland?

If you don't mind homebrew I may have something soon. A while back I created a homebrew domain based loosely on welsh myth that I've been toying with expanding into a cluster with areas based on Scotland, Ireland, and England (Cromwell is way too easy of pickings for darklord inspiration.)

Can I make a slight language detour, can I? :-D Oh please? I'm a language perfectionist most of the time, and although my Latin is so very poor, 'Via Occultis' doesn't make much sense to me, because the first is singular, the second is plural. Plus, the second is an ablative, which kind of begs for...

This wasn't meant to be scalable by level. I had in mind a roughly 6th-level average necromancer villain. This definitely oughtn't be a PC ability - running around with a dozen minions would be a logistical nightmare. And here, I believe, you've hit the essence of why they delayed summoning and nec...

Sadly, I wouldn't put it past WotC to make him a tiefling. Or any other race that they think will sell books. "Dragonborn Strahd will sell more books than human Strahd? Make him a dragonborn then." That said, I can see an argument for Strahd being a Mist Pact warlock, although I per...

I agree with Irving on points 2 and 3. This is a trap I fell into with Monte Mal. This is why I've started detailing the parts of the city where one can get away from the darklord, etc. It's taking a while to get it all down, but Monte Mal is slowly becoming more fleshed out.
