Re: Domains of Delight confirmed.

The Feywild already had these in 4e, they were just called demesnes. Which is pronounced the same as "domain." They were areas ruled by a powerful archfey, who could shape land. Calling them "domains of delight" is just taking the concept that has been around for a decade and giv...

Re: WotC: Novels and Non-5E Lore Are Officially Not Canon

I respect Ari and his take, but he's totally wrong. Table canon is a thing, but that doesn't negate the existence of book canon. I've played numerous Star Trek and Star Wars TTRPG campaigns (and I'm planning a Star Wars one for a couple years from now). And each of those games had their own canon. O...

Re: New takes on prestige classes

Right now I'm in the middle of (hopefully really close to the end of) a mammoth project of putting together a definitive rulebook to have available for the campaign I'm starting up in a few weeks. Sounds neat. With 3.5e Ravenloft "finished" it'd be easy to compile all the rules into a sin...

Re: Why is Victor Mordenhiem a woman now?

Some people have analyzed Holmes and Watson, the inspiration for Ray and Sedgewick, as having had a recurring romance. Yes, Watson gets married, but who does he run to and move back in with when his wife dies? That's right, Holmes. Ray and Sedgewick being a homosexual couple really isn't that stran...

Re: Incoporating/Adapting Candlekeep Mysteries to Ravenloft

I'd go with Port-a-Lucine's Grande Bibliothéque. But, really, the books are just a framing device. You can just have a book found in a private collection and launch into most of the adventures. The goofier ones won't fit, but several of the adventures are nice and creepy. A Deep and Creeping Darknes...

Re: Why is Victor Mordenhiem a woman now?

Holmes and Watson being portrayed as lovers is problematic, as I've said many times before. It feeds into stereotypes of toxic masculinity, where two men can't have a close bond without want to have sex. Men aren't allowed close friendships. Not in my bubble Or mine. But it took me a long time to b...

Re: Why is Victor Mordenhiem a woman now?

I imagine they immediately went to the (tired) idea Holmes and Watson were gay lovers (which is a huge pet peeve of mine for many reasons). And then later in the development they decided they needed a character in a wheelchair, but wanted it to be a hero. And since there was only a small number of ...

Re: Why is Victor Mordenhiem a woman now?

I do also see how it can be problematic, but not any more problematic than having darklords be women, minorities, LGBTQ+ etc. I see the spirit of being inclusive, but those aren't the heroes. At the end of the day, all it reminds us is that anyone can be guilty of the most heinous crimes. What they...

Re: Why is Victor Mordenhiem a woman now?

To be clear, there probably wasn't some corporate mandate to add more women. The CEO or head of D&D didn't set a hard number of visible people of colour. It was the people writing the book who decided to add more women. Or the head designer on the product who was co-writing might have encouraged...

Re: VRG:R pdf

I'm kind of curious how Pathfinder is doing since their whole thing had pretty much the whole ruleset up for free on a wiki. I've probably used the wiki much more than the books I physically own since i could search it all at once without pouring through book after book, since it eventually got tot...

Re: VRG:R pdf

I was looking for a PDF too, and ended up in the book-version of D&D beyond... which I can access only online. I cannot download it. If you have the app, you can download an offline version. Or you can print as a PDF, keeping the content but with less ideal formatting. It seems that starting wi...

Re: New DMsGuild Product: Whos Doomed - The Lords of Ravenlo

And the big update of Allies Against the Night is now live.

https://www.dmsguild.com/product/337328 ... _id=369234

The book almost doubled in size...

Should do a bundle with it and Who's Doomed. Maybe with another small book if I can think of a third product...

Of course.
