If the creature summoned is not a fire creature so to speak it will most probably die in the lava , no?If it were to go one on one with the dragon i mean.
My bad--it's actually summon nature's ally VIII. Fallenleaf could have summoned a roc or air elementals, and I might still go for an air elemental with summon nature's ally VII, but he doesn't have any cold-damage options. By summoning the salamander I get something admirably adapted to current conditions which can summon an elemental itself--two for one! :) And if they can keep the dragon in the lava, so much the better for everyone. The other in-character reason is that Fallenleaf speaks Ignan and Aquan, but not...er, the Air language (Auran! Google takes 20 on all Knowledge checks.), so I figured he'd be more comfortable summoning Fire and Water creatures, and Water is Right Out at present.

True, but I meant something which could probably fly, so the dragon would get to it and leave us the time we need to reach the castle.

True too, your idea is better according the situation, maybe it's better keep the dragon "occupied" and in the lava.

VAN wrote: A very important question it's Red Worm or Red Wyrm...? :?
[Is that REALLY important? Big bad thing coming out of lava! -Seriously, since noone of you has ever seen such a creature, it will be difficult to tell - though it has adragon's head, it seems to have a worm's body...]
Don Fernando wrote: OCC: Is the beast cutting off the bridge pass to the castle? Is it behind or in front of us? Just to know what to do next before it eats us all..
The beast is right of the bridge, way away from reaching your position... Running forward or back are pretty much the only choice, apart from jumping into the lava...
Nathan of the FoS wrote: IC: Seeing the dragon rise in the lava, Fallenleaf kneels on the bridge and begins to mutter, tracing a triangle on the bridge and peering over the side briefly as he does so.*

A serpentine form with the upper body of a man appears in the lava below near the dragon; leaning over the side, Fallenleaf shouts something in a weird tongue that mimics the snapping of the flames the group heard earlier in the forest. Nodding, the salamander makes a snapping gesture and the lava next to it erupts in living flame; together the pillar of fire and the serpent-thing converge on the dragon.
What a spectacular sight, do you think as you haste forward, and towards the castle...

The serpent and the and the pillar of flames rush towards the fire worm to engage it in a fierce battle...

Yet...

Before it reaches the dragon-like creature, the salamander stops... And with a movement of its hand, disperses the living flame...

And, floating in the sea of fire, bows before the worm...

Though those few seconds of distraction are enough for you to bring some space between you and the angry creature... And while the beast's triumphant shout of victory fills the air, you run as fast as you can...

[Not to slow down here too much, but do you want to go ojn to the castle or do you want to deal with the fire worm first, seeing that Fallenleaf's magic hasn't helped?]

Brethana and Jarg are running as fast as they can to the castle, knowing full well it would be madness to fight the beast.

Fleeing. Fast.

Edit: I suspect we are way outclassed by the Worm. But even if we do have to fight it, fighting it while standing on a crumbling bridge over a lava field is madness!]

With one more creature added to the mess, Jarryd runs as fast as he can towards the castle.

IC: Fallenleaf curses as the salamander makes obeisance to the worm. "Stupid, stupid, stupid," he continues, his hand twisting across the hilt of his scimitar as he stares downward in frustration. "Keep running!" he yells to the group, and leaps from the bridge, his form shifting as he does so into that of a giant eagle which rises quickly on the thermals rising from the lava field.

Below, the salamander blinks out of existence.

OOC: Fallenleaf shifted to animal form, then dismissed the salamander. He's going to go up and wait to see what the dragon does, while summoning an air elemental (monster summoning VII). If, as he expects, the dragon comes up into the air to go after the party, he and the air elemental will dive on it.

Despite his fear, Blaise pauses to watch the skeletal figure mutter an incantation. He fails to determine what spell is being cast, but the results are quickly apparent! He is fascinated by the destructive beauty of the fiery creature that Fallenleaf has obviously summoned. "Amazing power..." he gasps.

He is shocked from his reverie not by the creature's startling obedience to the behemoth, but by the jostling of several companions as they run past him on the narrow bridge. He barely avoids slipping into the lava, then continues running as fast as he can.

OOC: I'm probably third or fourth in the order now because of my pause to watch the results of the spell.

Shana plants a hand in the small of Blaise's back and propels him along.

Inovidil is surprised with the salamander's behavior, she didn't expected that from a summoning creature. However, she doesn't spare precious seconds to analyze it, she runs as fast as she can toward the castle.

Jamethon is still running full tilt for the castle. He isn't even aware of the Salamander's betrayal- he never stopped to watch what Fallenleaf was doing.

Luckily, Fallenleaf is wrong...

The gargantuan monstrosity's shouts fill the air with madness, but it doesn't seem to be interested in dealign with you little worms... For now...

Instead it dives back into the lava, provoking geysirs of liquid fire to spring into the sky...

Still very frightened and sure that you would have died fighting against the lava dragon, you run over the bridge as fast as you can, and the miles become short under your feet...

An eternity later, it seems, exhausted and covered all over with sweat and grime, you see the bridge's end before you...

Fallenleaf's hawk flies high in the air above another nightmarish scene...

On an island in the lava, the ruins of Castle Stonecrest stand, engulfed by the flames and by an endless procession of glowing ghosts, that, in endless circles, roam around it, silent and in mourning...

You can see familiar faces among them: Tavian, Adrian, Avra, Nicholas Remas, and as well Henry Arlington, Yellow Eyes and some of the Quevari you killed in the battle of the mistways...

The dead wander over the lava, holding their arms into the sky, praying, and bathing the horrific scenery in the dull milky gloom that their bodies transmit...

Before you, a black hole opens into the bleak walls of the castle.

A rift of darkness in the twilight of this red night, the gate of Castle Stonecrest stands there, open...

Fallenleaf, in his eagle form, swoops to land near the entrance; standing, he gestures his raven over to his shoulder, where it perches and begins to pull at his few remaining locks of hair. Strangely, considering that he is undead himself, the sight of the ghosts seems to fill him with fear--and also with sorrow. (Perhaps it is not the ghosts themselves, but what they represent, that are the cause of his reaction.)

Kneeling on the stones, he seems to pray* for a moment, then stands and enters.

*No spell--he really is just praying.
