She lets the phrase tail off and stares silently into the gloom, seeking out any sign of the shapeshifting thing that might be following...

Lightning arcs from the Black Cloud to strike three-forked into the cityscape to the west. A rolling wave of thunder follows.


The caretaker tears his wide eyes off the growing Black Cloud and says,
" I'll latch the gate behind you whenever you leave. But for now, I'm going indoors. Stuff to do."

He hastens away, then pauses a dozen paces from the party and the open grave.

The gaunt man twists, glancing back over his shoulder, and says,
"I pray the Lady will watch over you. "

And then he hurries on toward his little home by the graveyard wall.
