He puts some force to the command by placing the flat of his blade on the neck of a thug and use it to push him to raise, the implication clear.
"Don't give the Lady more reasons to burn you to a crisp. You'll find that as a powerful sorceress, she has even less patience than I do, and she can visit more pain. So, don't test her patience." Termelan says.

" Make fire."
The creature digs into one of the supply pits and comes up with a moleskin bundle. It lays the bundle down on the stone floor and unwraps it, revealing a splinters and twigs suitable for tinder.

The mine devil barks orders at others of its tribe, and in short order the creatures retrieve similar bundles as well as a few oily rags.

The Riverside

Safana and Temerlan escort the woman, her son, and the frightened criminals to the warehouse.

Tense minutes crawl by for the refugees and their protectors , anticipating rescue or attack, the Watch or the Hooded Hunters.

And then comes a knock on the doors.

Again...

" In there, open up now!"

Checking through shutters, Gunnar and company see that a patrol of twenty or more watchmen has gathered in the street, bearing weapons and torches.
Not a hooded head in sight.

..........

Domenica

The Count arrives only after the Watch opens the RiverGate and sends through a patrol.

But he does bring help :his six swordsmen. They arrive on horseback, wearing brigandine. The Count has changed his eating knife for a sword and his linen bib for a steel gorget.
Bramm's horse makes a happy whicker when the fat count climbs down from the saddle and bows before Domenica, where she sits in the cart.

" Forgive my tardiness, dear lady."

Now escorted by the Count and his men, Domenica goes to her property. She finds Volmar out front, seated on the unmoving forms of two masked men, mace set across his knees.

The mailed dwarf rises and salutes his mistress.
"Hail."

Filbert

After Perry wins the game of knucklebones, another Watchmen arrives to escort both informants to a senior officer.

The two thieves give their story to the officer (a man the Halfling does not know). They depart as soon as possible...

Termelan, Safana, Gunnar
After telling Gunnar about the information given to him by the thugs (about the large, organized effort to terrorize and prey on the refugees, the bribing of the watch and the possible infiltration of the festival) Termelan busy himself telling stories to the refugees to keep them calm and quiet looks up when the door knocks. His hand goes to his dagger. When they see that the watch is there, he stands up smiling, but stays silent. He lets the noble give the report.

Filbert

Once outside of the Watch Filbert turns to Milo:

"I think we did the right thing, now they should sent guards there to take care of the poisoned. I don't know about you but I think I'm done for the day and return to the inn and get some sleep, if they look for me I will just tell them that I panicked and fled but if you don't want I will not mention that you were with me. One thing is sure Terem's decisions are too risky and many people are involved. Anyway if you want to join me for a drink at the inn it will be nice otherwise goodnight Milo."

"Hail."
"Thank you Lord Bramm for your assistance," she says as she disembarks from the carriage. Turning to GIMP she grins at him "I hope they're alive."

"Hail, Vollmar. You've done well." She looks around to see if any watch are in their vicinity. Looking at Lord Bramm, she is serious. "I do not like my business being attacked
by rioters and I plan to find out why. You and your men are welcome to join me inside, but I give you fair warning. My technique of questioning is not one the Watch would condone.
GIMP here has first hand experience of my techniques, as you have already seen he has no tongue. I also need to change into something more comfortable."

Safana tries to look like a terrifying sorceress as she guides the group back to the warehouse, then settles down with a sigh. It has been a long day!

As the watch arrives, she begins preparing the thugs for handover to the guards. Like Termalan, she is prodding Gunnar into the report giving seat.

She smiles at Termalan.

"Looks like the night is drawing to a close at last. Good work by all I think. Exciting trips out you arrange! I'll be more prepared in future..."

Termelan, Safana, Gunnar

"I aim to please" Termelan says. "And I still owe you a good drinking night out, with the gains from the thugs. And I always pay my due to beautiful sorceresses. You know the inn I stay, you can come in anytime and collect."

Cormac goes to peek down each of the tunnels, trying to draw a mental map in his head of where they are and where the tunnels lead.
"Of course," Benn mutters, "It would be a damned shame if we ever knew what the hell was actually going on."

THE SEARCHERS
" They are broken. I do not fear the wretched little creatures. Our torturers will break you too, before your end. Unless you are lucky enough to die fighting."
Renn laughs aloud. "Your little gobs might be broken, but I assure my friend here sure aint," he gestures to Roald as the Siegebreaker starts asking a goblin something that Renn can't decipher. "If you think he can't make you talk, you must have hit your head harder than I thought."

Searchers

Roald scoops the mine-devil's supplies and carries them over to the nearest brace holding up the tunnel they came from.

"Reese, help me with this." Roald says. As he sets it up, he turns to the elf prisoner.

In Elvish he says, "There's this little trick us humans know to take down a castle's walls when there are no siege engines handy. We dig a tunnel, braced with wood much like this one, and we fill the tunnel with anything that can burn and light it." He finishes preparing his little pyre, scowls at it, then approaches the elf.

"The fire burns down the supports and then," he mimes a collapse with his hands, "the tunnel caves in, taking the wall with it. The thing is," he points back at the brace. "I don't thing that's nearly enough to burn that brace. Not without some extra fuel."

He gives the elf a toothy smile. "Lucky for me, greasy pieces of sidhelein filth like you make excellent fuel. And that's all you're good for. Unless, of course, you tell me everything you know about these tunnels."

Roald grabs the elf and pulls him to his feet. "So, what will it be?"
"Most men would rather deny a hard truth than face it."

The Mines

Roald and Rhenn bully the elf into talking. The frightened guard can barely get the words out fast enough, so that Roald only catches something about "copper works'' and ''the chamber of eggs."

Cormac pokes around the other tunnels, finding some to be dead ends and others to lead deeper down.

And then Nysiendre (the Bard) hears something coming and aleerts her comrades with silent , emphatic gestures. In a moment, the others all hear it, too, the scrape of leather on stone, hushed breathing as of a skulking party drawing near.

Sir Boarhort steps past the Bard, into the main tunnel mouth, and grips the supports on either side.
Something clatters off his armor.
An arrow!

"Get back!" The fat knight groans, pushing the wooden beams forward. Dust falls on him. Another arrow bounces off his breastplate.
Wood cracks. Stone shatters.
The tunnel collapses in a cloud of rubble and dust, covering the knight from view and spraying the Bard with grit!

And then Boarhort reels back into the sight of his fellows.
He laughs, coughing and spitting. Dirt covers his face.

The mine devils leap about, barking and yipping. Several rush past Cormac, down a side tunnel. Others grab possessions and then follow those fleeing. Some cluster near the party, whining like begging dogs.

The prisoner shakes with fear, but now he is not looking at Roald who holds him or at Rhenn. He is staring at the ceiling near the collapsed tunnel.
A crack spreads from above the pile of rubble and broken beams, zig zagging its way across the upper part of the stone vault...
Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

The Collapsing Mines.

Roald follows the prisoner's gaze, seeing cracks snake their way across the ceiling.

"Oh-," Roald turns to the others. "Run for the tunnel! Follow the mine devils!"

He looks to the indecisive mine devils and shouts in Elvish. "Don't just stand there, follow me!"

He pulls the prisoner over his shoulder and starts running towards the side tunnel the mine devils are fleeing towards.
