Back to Basics Chapter 1: Where are we ?

"Sure you have performed a duty that I usually take care when I'm in residence so I thought you would enjoy some good food before you decide on your next course of action . Yes, Arnulf those are the fish you so expertly caught . Why don't you and your friends start the party by filling your plates and coming back here to sit ."After most of the group gets up and starts for the food .Then as they start for the food Ping says something * softly under his breath and as he as is doing this he points at Dalorna with a finger .
"Dalorna if you don't mind I would speak with you before you fill your plate . It is about the Art ."Ping says to Dalorna just after she gets up . Only Dalorna hears Ping says these words . But after all of the group has it's backed turned to fill there plates .




@ Need a Spot or Perception as needed To notice this .
*Spellcraft Check for any one who stays behind and watches what Pings does .

''Of course, sir.''

Dalorna sits.

''As you no doubt know, I'm a humble student of the Art. I take it you are a wizard, as well?''

Arnulf's eyes never leave Dalorna or Ping. As long as he is alone with his sister, away from home, he has appointed himself Lord
and protector or Dalorna. If Arnulf sees Ping cast a spell at Dalorna, this could get interesting.

Sara is really starving so when she sees the buffet with the plates full of food she heads towards them and fills her plate. Then joins the others at the tables reserved to them.

Alia fills her plate selectively rather than heavily, then returns to the seats indicated, sitting near the door to the outside, politley waiting for the others before beginning to eat

To everyone else Ping and Dalorna seemed to be just speaking very quietly to each to the point that you can not hear what they are saying to each other .

As soon as the Dalorna group starts filling there plates the rest of the village get in line behind to do the same . Because of this, the party can not keep a constant I on Dalorna and Ping as they speak . But what glimpse's the party see's is just them apparently deep in conversion about something .


"Yes, I have some ability in the Art as you call it . But I did not become a Wizard from where you came from . I just know that is what you call it from where your from as I have met other magic users from the realms ." Ping pause's . "To why I wished speak to you alone about it . First do you specialize in a particular type of magic or can you perform most types of magic up to your current capabilities ?" Ping waits Dalorna answer calmly and serenely as he watches the rest of the party fill there plates .

Arnulf tries to keep an eye on Dalorna but can't really do it by being so far from her. He grabs a plateful of food, and a chair. Chair in one hand and plate in the other, he walks with purpose towards Ping and Dalorna. If he can't keep an eye on her, he'll sit close by and protect her that way. Without even asking to be invited, he sets his chair down as close as he can to Dalorna, and sits. Without uttering a word he begins eating, satisfied he is now within close proximity to his sister.

Dalorna answers Ping -

''I specialized in necromancy at school, but of course I also studied other areas of magic. My first teacher, Magister Delthrin, is a famous master of necromancy, and it was he who first taught me about it. It's a very useful from of magic, and more people ought to study it. "

Arnulf tries to listen to Ping and Dalorna's conversation about magic and whatnot. Nothing that really
interests the young man to be honest.

"I don't see the point of talking bout that stuff, to be honest. It's all boring and for bookworms in my opinion. Hey, a good
plate of food is more important than that mage stuff." Arnulf begins eating in earnest his plate of food which soon disappears.
When he is done he gets up and asks Dalorna if she wants more. Then he heads for more food.

As Arnulf tries to listen to what Ping and his sister are talking about . All he hears is Dalorna's side of the conversation as she is speaking in a normal tone of voice .

What Pings says to Dalorna"Yes Necromancy can be a useful form of magic . But I must warn you that for some unknown reason it can have some strange side effects on those who use such magic where we are at right now . At least that is what I have been told by some of the fellow users of the Art that I have met here . Personally I have experienced none of these supposed side effect's myself . " He pauses to let Dalorna think about what he has said .

Dalorna listens with apparent interest.

''Hmmmm...well, I'll keep that in mind.''

Arnulf returns with more food. "So, are you finished talking about the mumbo jumbo Sis? We need to decide about tomorrow and what we're going to do. Sorry Mr Ping, but can my sister and I get some privacy? I mean, you've been asking to speak to this or that person. I am quite sure that by now, you should be satisfied with what you've learned. If, in the future you wish to speak to any of us, YOU will be doing it to all of us, and at the same time. Is that clear? Thanks for your hospitality and great meal. We helped this village enormously and at our own peril. The children are back and safe. All I want to do is get home. If you can't help us, then we move on in the morning. Thank you for the cave information if that was from you."

Arnulf catches his breath and runs his hand through his hair, thoughtful. "Thank you for accepting us, but I get the impression that so far it has been all you, you with us, taking information and not giving much back. I might not be the sharpest tool in the shack but I feel it from the others who have spoken in private with you. My friends have given information to you and been honest. Have you been with us? I am not sure. Listen I am not the leader of all of us, but I am responsible for Dalorna and noone will harm her as long as I am breathing. If noone wants to take charge, I will if it serves us."

The young man yawns. Turning to Lorna he says "Sorry, but I rather speak my mind than keep it all bottled up, Lorna."

Alia is concentrating on enjoying the party. She will try to see if there is any bard or minstrel present and if not, or if (s)he doesn't mind, she will do some entertaining herself, dancing and singing. She will begin with her song recounting the group's Great Exploit!

Dalorna blushes , but that passes quickly.

''Ah, yes. Thank you, Arnulf. I was going to ask Mr. Ping more about the unusual cave he had mentioned to the Professor. "

Turning her attention back to Ping, she asks-

''We have discussed matters and we've decided to explore that cave. What can you tell us about it?"

[Roofdrak]

Hearing Dalorna ask about the cave, Isidar pulls her heaping plate of food and chair closer to them. She wants to hear what Mr. Ping has to say about this cave. I trust Dalorna to ask the necessary questions, but I want to be sure we know as much as possible. Why did Arnulf make that speech? I doubt Mr. Ping would try to harm Dalorna with all of us around. He is so quick to anger. Clapping Arnulf on the back, Isidar says calmly to him, "Peace my samman, lest we offend our host, Master Ping."
