Back to Basics Chapter 1: Where are we ?

[VAN]

Sara is the last one to wake up. When realizes that everyone else is already up she wears ger armour and joins the other for breakfast. She doesn't know prepared it so just says:

"Thank you for the lovely breakfast seems really delicious."

When the others start discuss what to do with the nets Sara says:

"Well, a wizard should have for sure some gold coins to give us and if he hasn't enough then we can get scrolls and potions as you said. Especially since we don't know what we may encounter in the cave I suggest we get at least a couple of healing potions. I trust Isidar of course but sometimes potions maybe more handy and faster during a battle. So if we are all ready I think we should go to Mr.Ping now listen his offer for the nets and then proceed to the cave."

''That sounds like an excellent plan, Sara.''

[BigBadQDaddy]

"I agree that haste would be our most prudent option, though I am very eager to try and decipher some divine scrolls I recovered on my arrival. Whatever we decide as a whole would be for the best."

[Roofdrak]

"If you would prefer to stay here to decypher your scrolls while we go speak with Ping, we could come back and meet you afterwards. We also have to find the villager who will guide us to the cave, as well as obtaining provisions. I have Ovina, Sara has her horse and Alia has her mule. Should we buy other mounts? It is only 5 to 6 hours walk, but our travels may take us elsewhere.," Isidar muses.

''Hmmm...other mounts might be a good idea. My suggestion is that we wait and see if this mine really does contain some sort of magic doorway. If it does, we'll need to try to figure out where the doorway might lead, before we go through it. It may prove impossible to get a bunch of horses down a mine, but we could probably get a couple of mules down there, no?''

If no one objects, Dalorna will go to see Ping, accompanied by whomever pleases to go with her.

[Roofdrak]

"I have no problem walking to this mine. Ovina can carry my supplies. We dwarves are hearty and able to travel on foot for many leagues without tiring. But, others may wish to buy a mule to ride on." She eyes the professor, attempting to be subtle, but unsuccessfully.

For all of his talk of being feeble, he does not seem to be quite so much as before when we traveled to rescue the children.

isidar follows Dalorna and anyone else who accompanies her.

[VAN]

"If the plan is only study the portal and not cross it immediately then I will leave my horse here at the village. If we find out that the portal leads somewhere where I can get the horse then will go back, take it and then cross the portal with it. But I don't want to risk its life beforehand."

Sara follows Dalorna as well.

[kintire]

Alia winces very slightly at the mention of her mule...

"If anyone wishes to ride, we could put all the things on one mule, and ride the other. i don't think we have enough to overload even one."

[VAN]

Sara, Dalorna and Isidar arrive at MrPing's house. Sara knocks slightly the door announcing themselves:

"Mr Ping, we are the adventurers that saved the children yesterday, may we speak with you please?"

[Lord Skybolt]

Ping answers the door and says to the group:"Welcome come in . I have just finished cleaning up after the party last night . I was just about to make some tea did you want some while we discuss what you will take for the nets ." as he usher the group into his house with a smile . It looks like there was not even any party whatsoever from last night . There is just an ordinary table with several chairs set at it . Enough that ever one can be seated while the haggling goes on .

Dalorna will haggle with Ping in a reasonable, polite fashion. She won't try to get much more than she thinks the nets are worth, but neither will she accept an offer of much less. If he wants to buy all the nets, she'll sell them all if the price is right. She won't insist on taking the whole payment in money. In fact, she'd be perfectly happy with gemstones, equipment that the party needs and can use, and whatever sort of minor magic items she might be able to get from the wizard Ping.


If someone else in the party seems to be a better negotiator, Dalorna will let him or her take the lead.

Note- She will take him up on his spell exchange offer, as well. I'm assuming that's one-for-one. She figures he has more spells than she does, being older and probably much more experienced. Thus, scrolls as part of the deal for the nets would be lovely.

After taking tea and engaging in the initial pleasantries, Dalorna opens the discussion of the nets for sale.


''We estimate that each net , being of metallic construction and fine workmanship, would sell for between three hundred and three hundred fifty crowns in the Marsember market. I'd say that about forty-eight hundred crowns or the equivalent would be a fair price for all the nets. Now, I realize that's a goodly sum of money, even for a prosperous and powerful mage.''

She smiles her most pleasant of smiles, sips her tea, and goes on-

''We'd like to sell you the whole lot. The fishermen might use them, as you had noted last night. Ah, and I imagine that a master of the Art might even be able to enchant one of these finely crafted metal nets."

More sipping, then-

''I would be happy to accept part of the payment in scrolls. Are you skilled in the manufacture of alchemical products, potions- perhaps even minor magic items of a useful nature? I think I speak for the group in saying that we value lore, magic, and tools much more than mere cash. With more knowledge and better tools, we'll be better able to both accomplish our private goals and to help others in need. We aren't seeking a huge payment in money. We are not greedy."

[Lord Skybolt]

"Sure I will take the whole lot off your group for 4800 GP in gems/coin and/or magical items that I have on hand at the moment . About the scrolls well I do have few made up, they are not for sale as they are just some I was going to give the only Wizard in your group as a professional courtesy is all . I do have few clerical scrolls if you wanted a few of those as part of payment for the nets . I have not really found a use for them as I have just recently obtained them . "Ping says to Dalorna after considering for a moment . He does not bat an eye or seem at all surprised at how much is being asked for the nets .

[Lord Skybolt]

While the girls are away Arnulf decides it is time to see what is in the Package that him and Dalorna where sent to Gnomes brothers shop for . As Arnulf opens the package slow as to not damage whatever happens to be in it . When he finally gets the package open he says"Ahh it is a sword . So Pings was right ."

''I think that sounds very good, Master Ping. You are most generous. We'll take the cleric scrolls as part of the payment, yes, please. Ah, and thank you for your kind gift of wizardly scrolls! My spellbook is open to you, should you desire to copy any of my spells."

Dalorna goes on to say-

'' I suggest that both parties now look over the items to be swapped, confirm the bargain if all concerned are indeed satifised, and make the actual exchange. "
