Ah Sounds good. Pretty much done with the character sheet just checking it over for patch ups now. Adding notes for when I do make rolls as well.
Re: Javenloft
Most of the time I prefer the DM to make rolls if they like, online. Makes more for the surprise that way.

Re: Javenloft
Definately makes it seem like the action is unpredictable and out of your hands that's for sure. xD
Re: Javenloft
Here's my character's story so far. It sounds like Mat is making a teenager (50s) Elf Magus, so chances are I've paid him a few kindnesses during our time in Darkon. Of course, the other PCs probably don't know all this, but Mat's elf at least knows that I am a brilliant and somewhat unstable man, whose memory is unreliable even by Darkon standards. Maybe Mat even knows a secret about my crime that I've forgotten.
Dimmer & Demlyn
Dimmer was a Darkon elf like any other. An impoverished scribe of Il Aluk, he worked from sunup to sundown each day before returning to his hovel on the outskirts of the city. It was an effete existence, pockmarked by cruelty and sameness, and he spent years contemplating his centennial end.
One evening, the tenement's landlord, the third Dimmer would outlive, declared an egregious rent hike that would put the quiet elf out of his home. Time stretched like gauze and suddenly Dimmer was standing over the corpse of his third and final landlord, bearing a smoking horror of a weapon that had splashed the greedy lordling over the length of an ally.
It was his shotgun, he somehow knew, and it had a name inscribed on each barrel: "Demlyn" etched in his own fine hand and "Seranal" written by another.
Retracing his steps, he returned to his room and found the cache where the weapon had lay hidden for years. It held a ciphered journal of lore both arcane and mechanical, a small kit full of alien tools, a stack of worthless paper notes inked with various trees, and a box of ammunition. Every instinct screamed at him to run, to survive, but the guilt was too great. He returned his gun to its hiding place and gave himself up to the Kargat.
During his confession, throughout the torture and while awaiting execution he has silently pondered his life's final mysteries - questions that will die with him and that's as it should be. All he knows for sure is what his final word will be as the rope draws tight: Seranal.

The Kargat are a secret police force...so the fact that Dimmer knew the identity of a few and turned himself into them might tell you something about his missing identity.

Re: Javenloft
If worse comes to worst then we can start and have them catch up as it were......
I was thinking a bit (long day at work we are moving the clinic this week so i have 12 hour work days sometimes at the computer where I can sneak this board like now xD) and figured my character would be around a lot of places.
Born in Nova Vassa his parents were among the poor population and moved when he was very young, to the neighboring country to get away from the horrible debts, and nobles of Nova Vassa. Figuring they could strike out a simple life in Barovia they moved hoping to live off the land and the taxes imposed by Count Strahd seemed pale in comparison to Nova Vassa.
Thus Felix grew up learning two langauges of Balok and Vaasi as his native tongue as well as the elven language his parents taught. They told him it was important to know his heritage. Many Barovia's kept distant from them being elves but over time they came to know that they were just like people themselves and stories about 'fey' kind might be a bit more fairy tale than made out to be.
Around twenty years old his mother died to an 'animal' attack. His father had been very sad when he had come home from the forest that day. His father wouldn't let him see his mother's body and only told him she was gone.
(i'm seeding things possibly for the DM later?)
So they moved away, far away. He was told of a land far north that elves were treated with more respect and accepted. From the secluded Barovian's that distrusted strangers and anything alien it seemed like that place would be a paradise.
(damn get pulled away, will edit later! Needless to say he makes it to darkon probably 20 years later through trials and tribulations then his 'false history' kicks in and that's probably when he meets Dimmer)

Re: Javenloft
Grim grew up in Verbrek with a old grandmother who passed shortly after he was out of adolescence. His grandmother was a local brewer and almost all of his social interaction came from his grandmothers customers. Grammy left her trade, recipe, and a surplus of alcohol when she passed which Grim became very found of. Being a secluded area Grim knew very few people and made "friends" with the animals of the surrounding area. He went thru a plethora of "animal companions " most of which met tragic ends or just simply never returned. One day he came across an injured female wolf. Although it is taboo to most in Verbrek to deal with wolves on any level Grim was lonley and naive and nursed the wolf back to health. Lady as he dubbed the wolf and Grim had many days of fun and adventure together. One day a large group of men came to Grammy's cottage demanding brew. Grim did his best to oblige and the men drank deep into the night spinning tales of adventure. After Grim had retired for the night lady returned to the men's horror. Wolf wolf they screamed and advanced to eliminate the threat. The next morning Grim arose to a scene of carnage and gore horrified he scanned the wreckage for any sign of lady. None was to be had. Fearing retribution and with no sign of his beloved pet lady he gathered his things and departed for the land of adventure he had heard so much about Darkon. Through his journey he drank much brew and spoke mostly to animals. He is now accompanied by his second longest companion a weasel named scruffy snatcher a mischievous thief. Once and awhile he would swear he would spot Lady but when he called out she would seem to disappear. When Grim finally arrived in Darkon he lost himself in the pubs of the area and his brewing. One drunken night he stumbled into an alley to pee. When he awoke he was choking on a mixture of his vomit and a seamlessly endless puddle of blood. That's when the guards came around the corner and discovered him. Grim ha an uncanny luck about him most of the time unfortunately it must have been hungover too bc it wasn't helping him this time
