One of the very few things I miss from 2nd edition is calling the fireball specialists as invokers.

I like how 5E Wizards following the Transmutation school now have the ability to turn any kind of material into at least a pound of gold; granted it's a 20th-level ability it's still convenient.

Re: 5e announced!
It's The Document Which Will Not Be Named. Publicly it's not supposed to exist, but it's been going around various boards since February. I'm sure it's still around somewhere, but ever since it popped up apparently some 800 changes have been made already (e.g., The Document Tiefling just gets Hellish Rebuke, 2D10 fire damage as a reaction when damaged; but the previewed official PHB Tiefling gets Hellish Rebuke as a 2nd-level spell, which means it deals 3D10 fire damage).alhoon wrote:What? The PHB is not out yet...
Also it seems fan-fiction and wish list by what you describe.

I won't necessarily call it "fan fiction" or "wish list" despite the hundreds of changes. The accuracy of That Document is still more or less spot on based on the previews given so far by WotC.alhoon wrote:Also it seems fan-fiction and wish list by what you describe.

So where is that document?
I haven't heard of it, nor saw it.

I've heard it described as an "alpha PHB" but it looks like a late playtest document sent to the friends and family testers.

Oh. Then it's the closed-beta focused test PHB

PHB is out. Kinda. I have my copy and it is a pretty, pretty book.
I'm much more excited flipping through it than I was after 4e. It looks pretty awesome.

I'm glad to hear it. I 'm quite excited with 5e; don't know, maybe because I had the feeling that is the best edition to convert the original Ravenloft Products.
Can't wait to get my claws on the PHB.

Re: 5e announced!
Yay I got my copy too! In the Philippines! On a Saturday!
I'm flipping through it NOW. The art of the cosmology (in the appendix) is AMAZING. (They've incorporated the 4E cosmology into the Great Wheel as well; no mention of Ravenloft, but it does mention that multitudes of "Demiplanes" exist.)
That said, I am deeply disturbed by the Halfling art. The proportions are surreal, and the smile on his (her?) face looks like he's (she's?) been in pre-natal labor for 15 hours.

Re: 5e announced!
Those of you lucky to have the PHB already:
Are the feats close in mechanics to the ones we saw in the playtests?
Anyway: Supplement by WotC for the Hoard of the Dragon Queen:
http://dnd.wizards.com/products/tableto ... agon-queen
Has some extra spells, vampires and finally, some real dragons in there. A new kinda awesome ability called: Legendary power.
More or less the dragon plays constantly, using legendary actions/round after other people's turns.
Spectres are kinda weird. Just lvl 1 (200XP) but there's no way a 1st lvl party can defeat a spectre without some serious losses. One touch and you get 3d6 hp (which may actually be drained). Specter takes half damage from everything a 1st-2nd lvl party has more or less. So... a single spectre would probably down 1 1st or 2nd lvl character before destroyed.

Re: 5e announced!
I'm looking through my copy of the PHB and pretty pleased with it so far. I was wondering what people thought of its use for Ravenloft, though, by itself and in comparison to other editions of D&D. Do you think the 5E rules will go well with Ravenloft, and how would you rank them up against AD&D, 3E, and 4E at least in terms of how well it would support Ravenloft?
Man lives in the sunlit world
Of what he believes to be reality.
But, there is, unseen by most, an underworld,
A place that is just as real,
But not as brightly lit.....
A DARKSIDE.
