Lookin for Regular Blog Contributors
Basically, I am looking to expand the group of people that are writing for our blog to take the pressure off of our regular weekly columnists and expand the offerings on our blog sections: http://www.highlevelgames.ca/blog
Take a look and let me know if you are interested.
Basically, we are looking for semi-regular "Listicles" or shortish articles made in the format of a list for both reader and writer ease.
I am even open to having a weekly or bi-weekly "Ravenloft Corner" and use that as a venue to cross promote the material that is on here and our shared love of the Demiplane of Dread.
Any interest?

Re: Lookin for Regular Blog Contributors
Ugh, I feel like this is going over like a lead balloon.
How about this? A regular Saturday blog post called the Ravenloft Corner*? And so that there isn't a tonne of pressure on any one person it can be shared by multiple writers. With the advent of being able to publish on dmsguild.com, I'm thinking there will be no shortage of things to talk about.
*Or something more appropriately Ravenloft-y.

Re: Lookin for Regular Blog Contributors
This is one of those things where my initial reaction was "I would absolutely love to help with this!" and then the quieter, more analytical side of my brain did some number-crunching and went "You most likely don't have the time for this and you know it."
But I'll ask some questions, anyway. What sort of topics (Ravenloft or otherwise) do you intend to cover? Based on the articles I've read on the blog, are you only looking for "listicles"?

Re: Lookin for Regular Blog Contributors
I am looking for the format to be listicles for two primary reasons:
1. It is easier on the writer both in terms of time and not thinking that it has to be a Whitman-esque essay every time they sit down to write.
2. It is easier on readers who can take and digest chunks at a time.
However, I am consistently impressed by this and other sights at the depth of material that can be covered using this format, so there aren't any reasons why anything cannot be covered. OK, that was a bad sentence, but you likely get it.
For example:
3 Reasons WhyYou Need to Try Playing in Ravenloft Now.
5 Ways To Run A Weekend in Hell.
6 Hooks For Your Ongoing Ravenloft Group.
4 Ways a GM Should Prepare to Run Curse of Strahd.
10 Ways TO Introduce Gothic Horror Into Your Game.
And so on.

This. Exactly this. I already argue with myself having given up so much time each week for a campaign, I really can't see myself doing much more.Ender wrote:This is one of those things where my initial reaction was "I would absolutely love to help with this!" and then the quieter, more analytical side of my brain did some number-crunching and went "You most likely don't have the time for this and you know it."
However, regarding sharing the burden among multiple writers, how would that work?
The Avariel has borrowed wings,
The Puppeteer must cut the strings
The Orphan Queen must take the throne
The Queen of Orphans calls them home

Well, here is my basic (and I'm totally not married to this) proposal:DeepShadow of FoS wrote:

I set aside a day a week for a "Ravenloft Corner" (also not married to that name) and I could put together a schedule that would include however many people wouldn't mind doing something once in awhile. Basically, Let's say we had, say, six contributors, each one would write something once every six weeks. Not that I want anyone dropping everything at the last minute to crunch out something for the deadline, but to know in advance that they have a month a half to get things done and plug away on it in their spare time so they have something ready.
Does that make sense?

Okay, so who else is willing to do this?

The Orphan Queen must take the throne

Any takers? I am open to letting people indirectly advertise their own projects, include links to this site in the bio, whatever. It's a site that we are doing to move the hobby and have fun.

I'm interested. I'm restarting with a knew group. And can show how to start in a horror land. I use the horror and fear checks but work into them slowly. The group is starting in the Core and later being taken by the mists. I've given my players hints of movies to watch Bram Strokers Dracula, Van Helsing and Holloween in their character development.

I could do a couple.

The Puppeteer must cut the strings
The Orphan Queen must take the throne
The Queen of Orphans calls them home

I'm game to help out. I think my random hooks thread is inching forward toward its ultimate goal of offering something for all known domains, so I should be good for time - I think.

Re: Lookin for Regular Blog Contributors
Hey guys, sorry I was away on a business trip for some time.
Yes, lets get started then.
How about you PM me your intention on here and I will give you an e-mail that we can use to get started.
My thoughts:
We are likely short on contributors, but I would love to get something started anyways. I am even willing, if scheduling and time commitments are an issue, to have the Ravenloft Corner be say, once every two weeks.

Re: Lookin for Regular Blog Contributors
I have gotten a couple of PMs, and am looking forward to hearing from others. If we can even get four people willing to committ to one article a month, that would mean a weekly space on the website for Ravenloft-y type material.
