Project Gutenburg: Amazing Literary Resources for GE and RL

Post by Bluelife »

I have noticed the most horrid lack of links to Project Gutenburg on this site. http://www.gutenberg.org

The project holds electronic copies of literature from 1923 and earlier for free electronic download. Not EVERYTHING has been added yet (obviously), but many MANY gothic novels and stories are avalible. Vathek, The Vampyre, Frankenstein, Dracula, Lair of the White Worm, Jewel of the Seven Stars are just a few examples that I was able to track down in moments.

The texts are public domain anyway, and quite a few are out of print. Hope this helps.

Just FYI, I checked and Jewel of Seven Stars doesn't have its original ending. The original ending was a real downer.

The lack of links to this site are likely to be linked to 2 things.

1. We were not aware of the site, which I wasn't at least.

2. The owner of the site is not aware of us (despote vast advertising on Blogs, MSg boards, Live Journal, EZ-Board, MSN Groups and Yahoo groups among others) and has not asked to be linked to our site.

I will bring up the site to the other members of the FoS though.
