Five freebooters jump the party just after the scouts return.

One will try to grab GERTIE. Overbear from the front. Another will try to sap her from behind. Girlnapping.

One attacks Fild with a sword.

One attacks Titus with a hand ax.

One attacks Damien with a belaying pin.

They ignore Alfonse and Lowen for now.

Grab GERTIE

[dice]0[/dice]

Bonk GERTIE in head, mugging
(Negated by loss of surprise, see below. Good thing GERTIE has alertness)

[dice]1[/dice]

Attack Titus

[dice]2[/dice]

Attack Fild

[dice]3[/dice]

Attack Damien

Fild is hit because of surprise and a decent to hit roll.

Yes, he was at full hit points before this encounter (healing spell, night's rest)

Damien takes a hit.

GERTIE must save or go nighty night.

Quick recap
JUST READ THIS

Location: Upper left corner of map, and just off it. Street.
See IC map link.

Enemies in immediate area/reach: Five pirates. Hand weapons. No armor.

Party status and tactical switch: No PCs down, but two have taken some (3 hp to Fild and Damien) damage.

GERTIE is in danger of being carried off, but isn't knocked out or badly hurt.

Pirates are going to try to carry the girl (GERTIE off) , fighting withdrawl mixed with overbearing attacks. They attempt to avoid further entanglement with Fild and Titus.

But you guys now you get your actions.

And you win next round init.

Declare actions and make rolls.

Adjustment needed.

GERTIE made her alertness.

Correction.

GERTIE made her alertness roll.

That negates surprise for that round. They cannot bash GERTIE, just grab at her

Pirates still attack, but now without bonus. They have init, but not surprise, the first round.

Fild isn't as fast as a human in tactical combat, so a pirate still gets close enough to strike him.
BUT because you had a bit of warning, I will leave it up to Alhoon as to whether Fild has prepped his BOOMSTICK or yanked his SWORD. He may attack with either. No attack of opportunity for shooting the gun point blank under these conditions.
Reloading is another matter.

All this means you guys CAN counterattack.

And THEN we do the new round, in which (I already rolled) you will gain init.

Questions?

I'll start with the thieves

GERTIE has not resupplied with thief trick stuff.

She will therefore use her whip.

Whipping guy with blackjack

[dice]0[/dice]

Nope.

Damien attacks the guy who hit him

[dice]1[/dice]

Yep.

[dice]2[/dice]

Not good enough to drop him.

The rest of you still get your actions.

Titus will will correct the behavior of the pirate attacking him.

By which I mean he'll try to bash him with his mace.

Do I have penalty for shooting him point blank?

If no:
Take 1-2 steps back (assuming no AO, if it's AO I'll stay put)
SHOOT THE PIRATE!
Make some noise. Scare the flock.

No penalty at all.

No AoO. You can move half move and shoot.
