So Jander Sunstar, elven vampire, was the saviour of Martin Pelkar, founder of the Church of the Morninglord in Ravenloft, and because of that church iconography represents the Morninglord as an elf with a blood stained mouth.
I'm wondering, how would Sunstar react to the knowledge that he had inspired a religion?
More importantly, how would it effect the church if it became known that their god was a vampire and/or among them?
And how might this happen?

I don't think he would mind in fact he would use it if hurt Strahd or any of his plans.
Other faiths are perverted when they arrive and over time through clerical views in the teachings of faith uncovering this would support the aspect of monster but performing just deeds.

If you go with the retconned Jander then he is still 'alive' and you can ask him.
I prefer the Jander that actually sacrificed himself. Just saying that the Dark Powers didn't allow the sacrifice as the retcon said removes all the pathos.

Is it a retcon? I kinda thought it was ambiguous at the ending?

Well, it doesn't have him exploding into dust or going extra crispy.Zilfer wrote:Is it a retcon? I kinda thought it was ambiguous at the ending?
But IIRC it ends on him 'drinking the sunlight in' when dawn arrives, heavily implying he 'dies'. And there is also the 'best to die in the presence of a friend' memory he has before he decides 'to do a Soth' and not play the game anymore.
Someone sent me a postcard picture of the earth. On the back they had written, "Wish you were here."
