Adventures based on specific literary sources?

Post by Le Noir Faineant »

Hey, all!

*Points at registration date.* - Boy, have we grown old! :lucas:

I haven't really done any research on this myself, but - this is my problem:

Last weekend, I ran a CoD/nWoD version of the old "White Dwarf Magazine" module, "The Horse of the Invisible", which of course is based on the story of the same name by William Hope Hodgson. I enjoyed the game, and the preparation as a DM, and I would like to do something like this again - to adapt a literary source, this way.

Now, of course I know there's always Lovecraft, and the adaptations of his works released for CoC/Chaosium. - But I'm not terribly interested in that; I love Lovecraft, but he's not "my" author the same way than others are. (Like Poe, for example. Remember that first post of mine, seventeen long years ago?! :D ) So, I'm now looking for other adventures, big or small, that adapt classic 19th century Gothic fiction in a properly Ravenloft-y way, regardless of ruleset or otherwise system, and regardless of the modules' age.

Do you have any recommendations for me? :)

Side note: I've lately also been reading up on the old "Chill" RPG, by Pacesetter et al. Liked it way better than I expected! :)

Stay safe, everyone, and thank you in advance! :)
