Wow! as usual you have all given me a lot to think about, thank you so much for you answers and ideas. I am still thinking about it and still kind of fluctuating a bit, on one hand I don't know how well a nine year old would do, on the other I thin it would be a real interesting story... Um well I will keep thinking on it.

That's an interesting idea. If ALL the PCs are younger than average and doing small things it might work better. It might be a good to take advantage of the apprenticeship rules from the DMG.

Also, a good class might be the rogue. Sneak attack and the small size make up for the lack of strength plus small children have a higher dex (IIRC) so they should avoid some hits through dodging.

Well this character is going with the child genius thing. So they are going as a wizard from the land of Thay. It really is an interesting idea so I think I may just go with it.

And just for reference points: Harry Potter starts at 11, Cole Seer of the Sixth Sense was about 9 or 10, The Narnia kids start around that age. There's all the original, dark versions of fairy tales like Hansel & Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood. There's Alice in Wonderland. (Lewis Carrol or American McGee your choice.)

According to IMDB, he was 10 when the movie was filmed, so... pretty close...

Well, I like it - but the player has to play it really well and the class choice matters a lot - also no tons of Wisdom, or Str, or Con, please.
A young druidess? A bard? Modern classes fit better, IMO.

I have a PC who's 10 years old, but that was when she asked Maeve to make her "the way she was before" (she had mutated into something bad). Eh, the fey agreed.. :D
