Like the sound of a tidal wave rolling in from the distance and crashing upon the silent shore, Williams awareness returns. He quickly scans the area, seeing the Zombies surrounding him, he looks for an opening in their ranks and charges through it, drawing his pistol.

OOC: Is William in mist form? Or did that never actually get cast?

Count Von Zarovich has observed the antics of the party and the newly arrived Devil. This was an unexpected turn of events, and I so hate losing fodder like this. He looks at Draven after he has woken and screamed. Glaring at him he unceremoniously dumps him on the floor.
Dmg 2

"I tire of this nuisance. Attack the Devil now. I need to speak with my guests." The two remaining Zombies turn and head towards the Devil's position.

Uttering sevral arcane phrases in a foreighn language, he points at the Devil. A green ray flies from his fingertips at the Devil, striking it in the chest Disintegrate(Limitied Wish) ...... SR by passed.

The Devil hisses and spits at Valerian and Lucius even as the green ray hits it. Slowly then faster, parts of it's body disintegrate into ash and fall to the floor, until nothing remains of it except for a small pile of ash where it once stood.

Looking to the party after he dismisses the two remaining Zombies, he speaks in an authorative voice, one which cannot be refused. "Follow me to the dining room, we have much to discuss."

The Count walks down the stairs and passes through the mess of the chandeliers as if nothing had ever transpired beforehand. He walks through the passage nearest Van and Cornelius without looking back.

Cornelius follows the Count.
Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

Van gasps as sees the green ray turn the devil to ashes.

"Nice spell!" Mururs the evoker.

Then looking on more time the room with the smashed chandelier, the 2 zombies and especially the ashes, says in low voice so only his companions can listen him:

"It's better obbey at the one who is able to cast such powerful spells!"

With that follows Cornelius.

William looks from the pile of ash upon the floor, and then to the Count standing with an authoritative air about him. Williams pistol trembles in his right hand as he clumsily tucks it back into his belt.
He awkwardly stands up a bit straighter, shaking off some of the tension as he does so. He then eyes the party apprehensively before slowly turning to follow the Count.

Valerian gazes at the pile of ash thoughtfully for a moment. This was a power as he had not seen before. "Truly, this is the den of the Mists of Death."

Casting a glance to see that the Count and most of the party had departed through the doorway, Valerian stooped and scooped up the pile of ash, placing it in one of his vials of holy water. One never knew what the Legions of the Night were capable of, and he'd rather see these remains disposed of properly. Buried in holy ground most likely.

The Warden rose and returned to Sefi. Wrapping her in his tattered cassock, he prayed, letting the holy light of Ezra wash over the slumbering werewolf. Satisfied, he lifted her up and followed the rest of the party, pausing by Lucius to give him a curt nod.

[OOC: converted 2 Hold Persons and 2 Commands to healing spells, 6d8+20=52 hp, Sefi healed to 45 hp.]

Draven slowly pulls himself upright from the bottom of the stairs, where he rolled after the count dropped him.

His head is reeling from the events of the last few moments, and his body feels bruised and battered. What just happened to me??? he muses whilst watching the rest of his companions follow the count through the doors.

He stands a moment, shivering in the cavernous room, fear welling up inside him, not only at the predicament they foudnt hemsleves in but also the unexplained events of earlier. He can feel some kind of darkness still lingering inside, a residue of something.

Shaking his head to clear it , he pulls his cloak tighter around his thin frame and walks slowly after the others a haunted look in his eyes.

As William passes Draven on the stairs, the veteran sailor gives a wide birth, eying him suspiciously. Once past the man, he begins scanning the area up ahead.

Up the ancient stairs he goes, subconsciously withdrawing his flask of rum from the inside of his gray wool coat. Unscrewing it's top as he looks around the walls, ceiling, and doorways, he places the flasks opening to his lips, when suddenly as if waking from a day dream, reflexively jerks his head away, looking at the flask in surprise. "Easy old boy..." He mumbles to himself, "Not the time...nor the place." He then re-secures the cap tightly to the mouth of the flask, then places it back within his coat pocket. He clears his throat and continues.

You follow the Count through a 50 foot long by 10 foot wide corridor. The ceiling is 20 feet high and the corridor is dimly lit by small candles in the walls. He says nothing to you as you pass through. The intense quiet of the castle is very unsettling. You hear your own footsteps and the candles flicker as you pass but don't go out. Tarlyn goes to one and puts it out, but it relights of it's own accord. He looks back and mouths the word "m-a-g-i-c" to you. Seeing Sefi is up and about he winks at her and removing something from his hair, now appears as his normal dark elf self.

The corridor opens up into a grand dining room. A 20 foot long table is in the center. The smell of the food now really hits you as you enter. The Count is already sitting at the other end of the table and motions you all to sit. Paintings adorn each wall and a fireplace is behind the Count. The fireplace has been started and the heat of it warms your weary bones. Though tired, a good home cooked meal is something that is welcome no matter what the hour is in your present situation. THe table is laden with all kinds of platters of food.

Atop the fireplace on the wall is a painting of a beautiful young woman with long black lustruous hair, blue eyes and a dazzling smile. She wears an immaculate red robe and sits with a red rose in her hand. Gordo the valet is in the midst of carrying a platter of wine bottles to the table. He sets them at different positions, looking at you as you enter.

As Valerian walks down the corridor, there is a movement in his arms. Slowly, groggily, Sefi moves, blue-violet eyes opening and trying to make sense of the world that, against all expectations, she still inhabits.

"Are you alright Miss Lerbin?" The Warden inclines his head politely.

"I-- I'm not fine, but I'll live." There was bitterness and pride in Sefi's voice. "My kind heals quickly."

Valerians lowers her to her feet, and she stands, a little unsteadily. Sefi shakes herself, a very canine gesture that sends her lush brown hair whipping around her body. "Did I-- hurt anyone?" Memory was very odd immediately after the change.

"No."

Sefi looked up at the Warden. He was troubled, but he usually was, she'd figured that out by now. Then again, most of these people were troubled. With a grateful nod, she pulls the tattered cassock around her and continues onward.

===============================================

Valerian waits a moment, then bows to the air before him, a deep, respectful bow. Slowly, without any sudden movements, he takes out the holy symbol from the pouch he had put it since his cord broke, gesturing first to it, then to himself.

After a moment, Valerian made a sweeping, questioning gesture with one hand towards the air.

It was an odd sight. Without his cassock, the Warden seemed more a soldier then priest, an tall, scarred blond man in heavy armor, a sword by his side and a buckler strapped to his arm.

Valerian waited patiently.

===============================================

Sefi entered the dining room and sat down at the far end from Strahd, a lonely, sad young woman clad only in a tattered brown robe. She pulled the cassock closer to her, sniffing suspiciously at the food, then uncorking the nearest bottle and taking a delicate lick of the cork.

All the time, her eyes never leave the Count.

Ignoring the stares Draven slowly follows his companions towards the dining room. He shivers as the emptiness of the castle echoes aorund him. He feels very cold, alone and scared.

Wrapped up in his own misery he barely notices Valerian stopped in front of him, and pulls up short to avoid walking into the priest. Side-stepping he passes the warden without a word, his eyes downcast and empty, and continues to the doors ahead.

The feeling of warmth is a welcome one as he steps across the threshold into the room, although the smell of food is not so enticing right now. Shuddering he chooses the nearest seat, and collapses into it, his cloak wrapped tightly around his body.

He watches the others take their seats, noticing that all seem to be alive and unhurt. Thank the fates for that he thinks.
