I am taking a few seconds to mention that this being finally over (with delays because of work and family) I will compile it into one document for the FoS to host if they are interested.

I will drop Joël a line about this.

If it doesn't make here. I will be happy to send copies of this to those who are interested. (But just wait a little while before e-mailing me I guess...)

I hope this helps out some of you out there!

As usual, comments are appreciated!

I noticed that the other Intellectual classes other than Parson are not in any of these posts. Are they going to be included?

I'm just reading through MOTRD now and as I read the class section I kept thinking how broken, how useless, some of the classes were. You're correction make a lot more sense. Thank you.

You're welcome (And some questions!)

Post by Jonathan Winters »

Very glad to hear it!

Cool...

Patrick

Now you go and have some fun!! :)

PS: If you have questions or comments, please let me know!!!!

Some things I'm wondering...

What do people think of:
- my inclusion of Alchemical lore from VRA for certain classes?
- toning down the Athlete ''Fighter'' feats?
- the couple of extra goodies for the Parson class?
- Sponteneous Casting wit a Cost?
- Domain progression for the Mystic classes?
- The Background/Influence Dandy ability?
- Trade Contacts for Tradesman?
- Is everybody cool with what I did with the skills??

MotRD 3.75 Pr Cl: Some help needed...

Post by Jonathan Winters »

I am trying to compile notes on Prestige Classes for MotRD.

(Yes, I'm at it again...) (Sort of...)

I have been sitting on some notes for months now (bum elbow slowing everything down a crawl).

I think I can post a blend of the Antiquarian / Forbidden Loremaster within a day or two... The two classes simply had too much in common IMHO.

If anybody has any idea / suggestions as usual, you are more than welcome!!

A first draft... Dark Antiquarian

Post by Jonathan Winters »

(If anybody has any suggestions for another name for this, I'm all ears!)
:)

Dark Antiquarian:
The Dark Antiquarian is a blend of the Forbidden Loremaster and the Antiquarian prestige classes. (Because looking at them, except for spells, they are almost the same class. I also decided that if certain classes in the Core rules only up their spellcasting abilities every other level, than it made sense to apply this to MotRD.)

Requirements:
SKILLS: Academician 5 ranks, Knowledge (any two ancient history) 5 ranks, Knowledge (forbidden lore) 8 ranks.

Special: Knowledge (ancient languages OR religion ) 5 ranks.

FEATS: Ancient Knowledge Expert.

SPECIAL: Skill Focus (Knowledge: forbidden lore) for characters without any spellcasting abilities.
Skill Focus (Academician) if it is a cross-class skill for a spellcaster.

Class features by level

1st Mythic Lore (+3/+2)
+1 Spellcaster level

2nd Instant Mastery: Ancient Languages (+4 ranks)
Instant Mastery : Ancient History (+4 ranks)

3rd Instant Mastery: Connoisseur (Books) (+4 ranks)
+1 Spellcaster level

4th Skill Focus Feat (Int or Wis based skills)
Rediscovered Ritual I / Tainted I

5th Metamagic Feat OR Decipher Script
+1 Spellcaster level

6th Instant Mastery: Connoisseur (Artefacts) (+4)

7th Instant Mastery: Ancient Languages (+4)
OR Rediscovered Ritual II / Tainted II
+ 1 Spellcaster level

8th Skill Focus Feat (Int or Wis based)
OR Metamagic Feat

9th Mythic Lore (+3/+2)
+1 Spellcaster level

10th Instant Mastery: Connoisseur (Artifacts) (+4)
OR Metamagic Feat

Class features:
Hit Die: D4+2

Class skills: Academician (Wis), Appraise (Int), Concentration (Con), Connoisseur (Wis), Knowledge (Int) (ancient languages, archaeology, cryptology, forbidden lore, history, religion), Search (Int), Speak Languages.

(Actually - I just realized I forgot to revise the class skills... Oy!)

Skill points at each additional level: 4 + Int Mod

Spells per day / Spells known:
As in MotRD except the character gains spellcasting levels with every odd level (1, 3, etc.). If she had more than one spellcasting class she chooses which class to improve.

If the Dark Antiquarian did not have any spellcasting abilities she chooses the Mystic’s or the adept’s way of magic and gains the ability to cast spell as a 1st level character. Once chosen, she may not change her class’s way of magic unless multi-classing later on into another spellcaster class.

Mythic Lore:
Same as in MotRD except that at 1st and 9th levels, the Dark Antiquarian gains a +3 bonus on one Knowledge (forbidden lore) cultural myth and a +2 bonus for a second cultural myth.

Instant Mastery – Ancient Languages:
Same as in MotRD except that at 2nd level, the Dark Antiquarian gains 4 ranks.

Instant Mastery – Ancient History:
Same as in MotRD except that at 2nd level, the Dark Antiquarian gains 4 ranks.

Instant Mastery – Connoisseur (Books) :
Same as in MotRD except that at 3rd level, the Dark Antiquarian gains 4 ranks.

Skill Focus Feat:
At 4th level, a bonus skill focus feat for any Intelligence or Wisdom based skill except Survival.

Rediscovered Ritual I / Tainted I
At 4th level, same as in MotRD, except the Dark Antiquarian becomes so involved with research and occult lore that his spellcasting power checks increase by 1%.

Metamagic Feat OR Decipher Script:
At 5th level, the Dark Antiquarian chooses a metamagic feat or the Decipher Script ability.

Instant Mastery – Artefacts:
Same as in MotRD, at 6th level, the Dark Antiquarian gains 4 ranks.

Instant Mastery – Ancient Languages:
Same as in MotRD, at 7th level, the Dark Antiquarian gains 4 ranks.

Rediscovered Ritual II / Tainted II:
At 7th level, same as in MotRD, except the Dark Antiquarian becomes so involved with research and occult lore that his spellcasting power checks increase by 1% (for a total Tainted effect of +2%).

Skill Focus Feat OR Metamagic Feat
At 8th level, a bonus skill focus feat for any Intelligence or Wisdom based skill (except Survival) OR a metamagic feat.

Instant Mastery – Connoisseur (Artifacts) OR Metamagic Feat:
Same as in MotRD, at 10th level, the Dark Antiquarian gains 4 ranks OR Metamagic Feat.

And there I go again... I just don't learn...
