Can you imagine if that had happened today? Well, without of course jumping into the Jaws comparison. For instance, when the Bell-hop got it and people sent money to his mother would have gone more like this in 2007:
Witness: "Oh my god! The bell hop was bitten by a shark!"
Nearby person: "Aw crud! Well, guess I don't have to tip him then."
