Back to Basics OOC
Re: Back to Basics OOC
Sara will take 20 to open the locks of the remaining chests. If needed she can take 20 on search to check better the chests.

Well, if we have cleared this sleeping room/barracks, I suggest we go on, using the SOP. That way, Skybolt may condense descriptions into one or two longer posts, if he likes.

It is an analogy for put a stick in the middle of room in dungeon and watch as the players in your group try to figure out what it means . When there is no meaning whatsoever to it being there except that it is just there lol .

Here's Isidar's strength check = 17. In case you need it, LSB, for her to lift up the safe.

Re: Back to Basics OOC
Strength checks are not needed to lift something only for breaking open some like a door or a Safe lets say . If you can lift something is all based on how much you can actually lift . That is under the description for lifting weight on page 162 of the PHB based on your strength stat . A strength check maybe if you are trying to maneuver something around in awkward area or move something you are barely able to lift lets say in close quarters or across something you need also balance on while going through an area like moving on a ledge etc . Two characters at most could help move the safe around are not strong enough together to bring the safe even by dragging it along the ground . No character can even move it from the floor if they try to lift it or move it to the door to drag it away . It is as if it is glued to the floor and wall even .
Please posts such ineffectual actions by your characters please and there reactions to such a findings by there characters and the party in General . In this one instance I'm going to let you describe how this would be played out by your characters

Re: Back to Basics OOC
Safe -cracking time, guys.
As noted in my IC post, Dalorna can weaken the lock with acid. She can drop the orb in at point blank range, into the hole and over the lockplate. That won't do a lot of damage-- but it will bypass hardness.
Dalorna doesn't know much about gunpowder. In her world, it's rare-- an unsual kind of magic/alchemical substance.
Of course, we do have a cleric of Gond in the party, and Gond's priests are the ones who first (and primarily) created and distributed 'smokepowder' in Faerun. Even if Isidar doesn't know how to make gunpowder, she might know a bit about it. Better ask LSB.
Isidar may get a dwarf bonus ( stone cunning or metalwork craft bonus) to locate weaknesses on the safe.
I'm thinking a petard would be a good idea.

LOL, I doubt we have anywhere near enough gunpowder on hand to do that.

Re: Back to Basics OOC
Please remind me has Sara tried to open the lock at the safe box normally by taking 20? She has 26 total which maybe is enough. If it isn't we can procceed as Ewan said.
