True, but Lysander was already undead at that point, by the same process that created the first Ahltrian, though somehow (Perhaps by the blessings of his goddess, Brigit) semi-free-willed except when Ebonbane chose to dominate him. So he wasn't really "killed" in the normal sense, but destroyed.

Doesn't that sort of clash a little with what's been established with Addar (being Kateri's mount, that is)? I'm thinking of his entry in one of the BoS netbooks. I can see a rework that would incorporate it. And I only mention this because of a certain Lady of the Lake was mentioned in the BoS series before making an official appearance (to my knowledge, anyway) in a Gazetteer complete with the history established in the netbook.

Yeah, in the post I mentioned regarding Forenoon Abbey, Mangrum put in a line to try to reconcile that. "Addar was once a steed for a paladin in the Circle, but accounts differ on exactly whom he served." Mangrum also mentioned it here:

Actually, the Lady first appeared in Servants of Darkness (1998) before getting fleshed out in the Book of Shadows (2000). But you're right, lots of stuff from the BoS series did make it into the 3e line (the Ezra info in Anchors of Faith, and the Council of Brilliance come to mind).

I think this can easily be reconciled by saying that Addar had a rider before the events in the BoSac.

When it came to the BoSes and canon:

1) If the Kargatane didn't write it, I ignored it.
2) If the Kargatane did write it, I treated the BoSes the same way "new Who" treats the old Doctor Who series -- plucking out what they want, ignoring what they don't, on a case-by-case basis.

Except that in his original appearance, he's described as too arrogant to tolerate any rider. Yes, one could argue that the elf-maid simply didn't live up to his high standards, after Kateri ... but should we re-invent him that much?

It might be more consistent with his personality to do it the other way round: distracted by the nightmare, he lets the elven woman die on his native world, so is carried off by the Mists and forced to be a steed for Elena , not Kateri. In serving Elena, he comes to enjoy being cruel; eventually, he earns his way to true darklordship, and one of his fiendish offspring takes over as Elena's steed.

FWIW, this would mean that we've actually seen Addar's picture (p. 7, Islands of Terror), which I kind of like. And it's Elena, not Kateri, for whom we have canon references to unicorn steeds, anyway: their blind arrogance compliments one another.

I like that a lot! Yeah, Elena riding shadow unicorns, to bolster her own self-doubt. And that would indeed be a perfect prep-hell for Addar, being forced to submit to Elena that way.
