Confused... are people having trouble voting? It worked fine for me. um... try again?

Exactly. Assume a "this is how I do things" or "your mileage may vary" next to each post on a forum. And if you see any post that claims otherwise, treat it with skepticism.ewancummins wrote:That would be ridiculous whether it came from a game publisher or from some guy on a fan site.HuManBing wrote: It's not as though this thread is trying to sneak in a new official decision of "thou shalt use this scale and none other" or anything.

Just tried again. I get the same result: submitted form is invalid, please try again.

Re: Poll: What Scale Do You Use?
So that everybody knows I'm on the same page as you now - I understand the dilema. While it's true I've campaigned in Ravenloft, I did all of it back in 1e/2e days. I never played in RL during 3x, so I was not aware of the undefined scale of 3x RL maps - I just assumed the previous scales of 1e/2e were unchanged...
I think had the OP question had been how big is Barovia in your campaign based on the 3x map of Ravenloft - with the various vote options... I'd had figured it out.
To me, in a 'define RL scale to my preferences', I'd say just smaller than the Holy Roman Empire for all of Ravenloft, perhaps the same in area counting in the smaller isles and some sea.
Edit: OK, I just cast a vote in the poll and it worked fine, no error...?

Still not working for me. This may be one of those Athenian democracy types where you have to reach a certain level of merit before being allowed to vote, and being a "savage cruel barbarian" in Chinese tends to remove you from the running

The HRE at its largest it was over 380,000 sq. miles.MichaelTumey wrote:To me, in a 'define RL scale to my preferences', I'd say just smaller than the Holy Roman Empire for all of Ravenloft, perhaps the same in area counting in the smaller isles and some sea.

The Thirteen Colonies, minus western lands, were about 360,000 sq miles. It sounds as if your Ravenloft Core may be near the size of mine.
What's the population of your Core? My Core has about 2 million people. That's roughly similar to the Thirteen Colonies in the mid to late 18th century. The HRE had perhaps twice as many people at its creation, and eventually ten times as many or more.
EDIT- Are you really counting ALL the domains, or are we talking about the Core and some nearby islands. Your post was a bit confusing.

Re: Poll: What Scale Do You Use?
Ahem, the canon is 1" = 25 miles, not 1" = 1 mile.
I voted "Double" because I use 1" = 50 miles. Truth be told, I don't know what the other two persons that voted the last part use.
It should be
- Traditional, 1" = 25 miles.
- Doubled, 1" = 50 miles
- expanded, 1" = ? miles
- continental, 1" = ?? miles (with ??>?)

Re: Poll: What Scale Do You Use?
When I read that - http://www.fraternityofshadows.com/FAQ/ ... gisthecore I decide it will be a good Idea to do not use ANY default scale. For example - Paridon, where we are playin' now - when players have to go somewhere fast and without a troubles, their destination point i just a few streets from wherever-they-are, but when I want to start some (random or not) encounters, the Blackchapel may be a fivety miles wide labirynth... Or when the players enter the forest in Kartakass, the size of forest is everchanged - they leave it when they have to leave it;)
The time and space within a demiplane is fluent in the end, and we agree with my players that tis may be a good way to show that Ravenloft is not the Prime Material...

I play Ravenloft 1 inch = 1 inch. How's THAT for claustrophobia?

Re: Poll: What Scale Do You Use?
I don't know, I only played Ravenloft in 1e and 2e. If any 'new' domains appeared in 3x, I don't know of them. I'm just talking about Core, plus the islands of Dread - and some sea between them. One thing though, I am equating HRE in square mileage only, not population. I think Ravenloft has far more wilderness areas within than HRE, so populations might closer to Colonial America or less.ewancummins wrote:EDIT- Are you really counting ALL the domains, or are we talking about the Core and some nearby islands. Re: Poll: What Scale Do You Use?
Okay, I pulled out the DoD maps to check, and it looks like we were both wrong: it's 1 = 10. I was actually thinking that when I wrote 1 = 1. Grrrrrr.... Okay, I'll change the poll and we'll start over. Maybe this time I'll actually get to vote? I've tried like five times, on three browsers.alhoon wrote:Ahem, the canon is 1" = 25 miles, not 1" = 1 mile.

Re: Poll: What Scale Do You Use?
Bizarre... sorry. Not sure I'll be able to look into soon, but I will when I can. Can you vote in other polls on the site?

My vote worked. I'm using IE (latest version).
