Hazlan: Chapter Four

Cornelius rubs his arm.

''That hurt. Stupid goblins!''

He looks at Jacob with somethinmg close to astonishment showing on his face.

''Another dockalfar? Gods and Dead, that's an unlikely turn of events!''

[VAN]

Van looks with great interest Jacob cast his spells. The wizard doesn't cast these spells himslf but he knows pretty well how powerful a wizard must be to cast spells like these. However the evoker isn't completely sure that the new drow was telling the truth.

So he says in the drow sign language:

"Tarlyn, are you sure that we can trust him? I mean you have told us so many bad things about dark elves. I don't believe him just becasue he says he is a cleric of Lathander, he could just get the holly symbol of a poor cleric. Do you have another proof that we can trust you Jacob? Sorry, but I hope you understand me, you dark elves are not exactly the best race to trust. Maybe you can cast a spell so we can see that you really say the name of Lathander or Morninglord instead of the evil Loth. You can heal our friend Cornelius, he is wounded from a blow. So what do you say?"

[steveflam]

Jacob smiled. He first removed a pin from his hair, then he appeared as a dark elf, younger than Tarlyn. Without saying a word,he approaches Cornelius. Nodding to the dwarf he clasps his holy symbol. Uttering a few phrases he touches the dwarfs arm. Cornelius feels no ill effects from the blow and as he tests his arm, realises it isas if he was never harmed in the first place. "Lathander smiles upon you" he says in Dwarvish to Cornelius.

Draven watches the events unfold with a look of astonishement. "Mists, goblyns, who arent goblyns, and more dark elves." He mutters to himself as he watches the newcomer silently, although his mood does brighten when he sees Cornelius' wounds healed.

[OOC: umm where are we, did we get taken somewhere by the mists?]

[Ail]

Lucius is as bewildered as the others, perhaps even more. He seems to recede into some state of mental inability as he tries to understand what just happened. So many things that didn't make sense were threatening to make his mind explore, or to dumb him into incapacity.

He put his arms around his head as he sat on the ground, as if trying to shield himself from some unknown horror. Another Dark Elf! Mists whirling around!

Sure, he had read of them, but never witnessed them first hand, and he was sure he had seen some vague distorted figures through the haze.

[VAN]

"So you are indeed a cleric of Lathander. That's very good. As I have seen you are a powerful spellcaster too Jacob. Maybe later we have a chance to talk about magic. Me, Cornelius here and Lucius are wizards. Well Lucius is a cleric too, as you actually. But can you say as a bit more things about yourself? You are from the plane our friend Tarlyn is, but how you a dark elf live in a city? You don't have problem living there? You..."

Van stops talking as notices Lucius, he gets closer to him and says:

"What is it friend? Are you ok? I guess we are safe now, Jacob has saved us for now...."

Looking at all of his companions Van continues:

"I think we should ask some questions these goblins...ar...ogres, the wizard who did that might be close. We need to get some answers from them."

Draven looks at the bodies of things that werent what they appeared. "I think it might be prudent to keep the questioning short, Van's right whatever or whoever the reason behind this attack may still be here, and we need to be long gone before that happens."

Turnign to look intently at the new arrival, he signs a direct question. "Jacob, our new friend, how did you come to be here, and where do you think you are?"

''I'm fine with Jacob, I think.''

Cornelius stretches his newly mended arm.

l ''Always good to have another healer travelling with us. Cannot say I've ever heard of Lathander, though. Could you tell us more about him, Jacob?''

[steveflam]

"Jacob, our new friend, how did you come to be here, and where do you think you are?"

"To be honest I can't say. The stars aren't the same here. I think I am on another plane perhaps? That would be a valid conclusion. I came to be here by the thick fog or mists."

''Always good to have another healer travelling with us. Cannot say I've ever heard of Lathander, though. Could you tell us more about him, Jacob?''

"Well friend dwarf, let's see. He is also called the Morninglord. Strive always to aid, to foster new hope, new ideas, and new prosperity for all humankind and it's allies. It is a sacred duty to foster new growth, nurture growing things, and work for rebirth and renewal. Perfect yourself, and be fertile in mind and body. Wherever you go, plant the seeds of hope, new ideas, and plans for a rosy future in the minds of all. Watch each sunrise. Conisder the consequnces of your actions so that your least effort may bring the greastest and best reward. Avoid negativity, for from death comes life, and there is always another morning to turn a setback into a success. Place more importance in activities that help others than in strict adherence to rules, rituals, and the dictates of your seniors."

"That is his dogma."

[VAN]

Van nods to Jacob words. The wizard has read a lot about religion and he knew the name Morninglord.

"It's true. So Jacob, you are the second drow we met and that doesn't worship Loth. That's good for what I know. But where were you before the mists get you here? I mean have you entered the mists to escape from someone or you just notice that they appear around you and the next moment you find yourself here?"

[ewancummins]

''Oh, the Morninglord. I believe there is a church dedicated to that god in the County of Barovia. ''

Cornelius gives the newcomer a good looking over.

''You really think you come from another plane of existence? Interesting. How can you be certain you simply aren't from some land across the Mists? There are many such places, you know. The Land is bigger than most folk realize.''

[steveflam]

"But where were you before the mists get you here? I mean have you entered the mists to escape from someone or you just notice that they appear around you and the next moment you find yourself here?"

Jacob looks at Van. He thinks a moment before answering the mage. "I was walking near my temple and heard a disturbance. I rushed to the area but a great fog or mist rolled in and I seemed to walk for hours, finally appearing here before you."

''You really think you come from another plane of existence? Interesting. How can you be certain you simply aren't from some land across the Mists? There are many such places, you know. The Land is bigger than most folk realize.''

"I am from Waterdeep of the land of Faerun, if you will. Tarlyn is from there as well as he has told me in the common tongue of Faerun. The satrs seem differently placed in the heavens here than in Waterdeep. This I can assure you" Jacob says to Cornelius.

"Well I am Jacob Hun'ana. You already know where I am from as well. Who might I have the pleasure of meeting this day?" Jacob asks the party.

[VAN]

"Oops, you are right. Excuse us Jacob, we were so curious about you that we haven't introduced us. Well, I'm Van and these are Lucius, Cornelius, Alexander, William and of course Tarlyn." Says Van.

"Now, lets do the questions. Does any of you speak giant?"

[Ail]

Having recovered from the first shock, Lucius addressed the newcomer offering a handshake

"Lucius Plancturus. I'm a teacher first and foremost, but my own curiosity and sad life events have thrust me into this path. Perhaps you can tell me more about your world, I do want to study more about planar travel, and planar beings. Perhaps we can discuss some of that later? Also, we the wizards have been trying to find some time to share our common knowledge of spells. Perhaps you could join with us later too."

"Alexander Draven." He speaks barely moving his lips eyeing the newcomer with a look of wariness.

"You are far from home, my friend, these lands are I am sure most different to those you know. We travel to Kartakass this day, well before these creatures attacked us. Van what are these things?" He asks turnign to the wizard.
