"Ok then, you can go as long as I'll return to my spells. What about you Renad?"

"I ... can go to the temple again." Says Renad

"You have gone today, it's enough no? Pelor wil have no problem if you join me and Thalar to our practice. What do you say?"

"I cannot compare with you Kel, I'm a cleric remember?"

"No, you are a cleric Reand?! You speak so rarelly about religion and you fight so well with your spiked club that I was sure you were a fighter! Come on I'll let you use your spells, you can become stronger and gets Pelor's favor if you want." Says Kel as loughing.

"It's a morning star you morron! And I have no problem use it against you! It will be as you have said, me and Pelor agianst you! You will return back aching as never before!" Says Renad pointing at the morning star beside him.

"It will be a funny day tomorrow, I wish I could be there and watching. Please Thalar you should tell me everything!" Says Inovidil with a smile.

"Well actually Renad was nice enough to talk to me about religion and Pelor,Kel" Jarg offers teasingly, winking at Renad.

"Sure Inovidil I will, but the rest of the time I wish to practice with Brethana as Kel is quite good at his technique and doesnt need any more help. Brethana could use some more training as a Ranger" Thalar offers and sits back sipping his ale once more.

"Sure Thalar I'd like that."Brethana blushes then sips her ale awkwardly.

Elvira leans into Inovidil "Oooo I bet they arent gonna practice!Hee Hee! Bah I rather sit around here or walk around and window shop. Mebbe I can go with Jarg tomorrow and we can go see what trouble we can find" she says with a wink at Jarg.

The next 2 days pass by without much anything happening.

"I agree with you my friend, our plan is up to work!" Says Inovidil and winks to the halfling.

The next two days Inovidil finishes her scroll and gets all the spells at her spellbook.

On the morning of the 3rd day they convene for breakfast early and leave for the hills. It is not a long trip and once they get close it is around lunch time so they break, to eat and discuss.

"I think Brethana and I should scout ahead and track, to scout for the Giants. We have to be careful because Giants and rocks do not ineterest me at all", Thalar says.

He looks to Brethana and smiles as she smiles back to him, nodding. They run off together and head off into the hills. After a time, they pick up the tracks and follow them deeper into the hills, getting farther away from the party. This didn't sit well with either Thalar or Brethana. Thalar for one knew how dangerous Hill Giants are anda Brethana wasn't too keen on fighting the Giants alone if that should happen.

Finally as they are tracking, they hear the Giants before they see them. Silently approaching, they crawl up the slope slowly, and peer down.

Before them they see 2 Hill Giants, a male and one female, carrying a chest from a damaged caravan, and off to the right of them they see the dead caravan owner. Thalar looks to Brethana and touches her hand and smiles, but she can see he is sad about the dead caravan owner, as is she. They both look around and see that there is a trail that leads up to a rather primitive cave at the top of the trail. The Hill Giants carry their loot up to the top and dont come back down.

Brethana looks at Thalar and says "We can have our revenge on these Giants with the others. My blades are anxious to taste their blood. We need to go back, and plan. Should we do a bit different this time? LEt's go back and see what the others have to say about it, Thalar".

They head back to the others and soon after, they arrive. The others are all resting, or meditating. They relate to them whatthey found and ask what they think the plan should be.

"In my opinion our plan shoulb the same as always, Elvira gets in scouting as we wait outside. Then we prepare ourselves with spells and then go inside." Says Kel.

"Yes, but what if the giants are outside? I know that they see very well so they can hear or see us before we do. We should be prepared for that option too." Says Renad.

"No worries my friend with my spell I can protect us from the rocks. The problem is that if I cast it on all of us, my magic will be very limited and I cannot help you as I want during the battle. With my new spells I can suure you that I can deal serious damage myself too, not as theothers times. I'm really sorry but I think I will protect myself, Kel and Renad since the others can hide or are very agile and they can avoid the rocks. What do you say?" Says Inovidil.

"Ah, plus when we finally get a bit closer to the giants I can make 5 of us move faster, that measn that you are going to have an extra attack! Since I can get only 5 of you with myself, I'll not get Elvira and Jarg. Sorry my friends but you 2 useto be hidden and attack from distance so I guess you don't need a partial action. Are you ok with that?"

OOC> Thalar, Brethana, Elvira and Jarg will not have protection from arrows.

Jarg and Elvira will not have haste, since Inovidil can get only up to 5 people.

Ooc : Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Targets: One creature/level, no two of which can be more than 30 ft. apart. So Inovidil will have to be close to the Giants as well Thats a nice spell but can be dangerous for her!

Noth Elvira and Jarg are ok with not being hasted and tell Inovidil so.
So they set off and after a while they arrive at the hill from where Thalar and Brethana saw the Giants. All going up the hill as sliently as they can, they arrive near the top and get down, crawling to the top of the slop and peering out towards the cave. No Giant is seen , which relieves them. Moving silently they get to the trail, but are still nervous as they are in plain sight.

Whispering , Thalar says,,"Ok Jarg and Elvirs you stay back and hidden so you can do ranged attacks. Inovidil will come with us as she need to be closeto us to do her spell but at the back of us."

When they get about 80 feet or so from the entrance, Jarg and Elvira nod to the others and get ready, cocking their bows, aiming at the entrance.

The others are about 30 feet away when the Giants emerge, tree trunks on their shoulders, talking. The male sees nothing but the female see the band approaching, and points to the male. Snarling they both swing their clubs as they walk down and plant their feet, beckoning the party to them with an evil smile.

Elvira and Jarg shoot first, both hitting a target, one on the arm the other in the chest, making the Giants furious. They snarl and charge the others rushing them.

At the same time Thalar, Kel,Brethana, Renad and Inovidil rush the Giants, Inovidil hanging back after she sees they wont use rocks.

Thalar dives under a Giants swing, who barely misses him. HE gets behind the Giant and jumping up, he slashes, the Giants knee tendon cut, making it stumble backwardsand go to one knee. Without realising it, the Giant knocks Thalar back towards the caveas he hits the ground very hard and slumps unconcious.


Brethana rushes the downed Giant, seeing Thalar hurt. She yells at the top of her lungs as she jumps up and slices the Giants neck twice. SHe lands infront of the Giant and hopes this is over soon as Giants are huge!

OOC> Inovidil will get close enough to cast haste, the giants will be in melee with the rest of you.

As waiting Reand has casted bull strength on Kel and Brethana. Inovidil has casted mage armor and mirror image on herself. At the moment they saw the giants Inovidil has casted haste. So Kel, Brethana, Inovidil, Reand and Thalar are hasted. (it has that as ready action)

IC> Feeling his body move faster than ever, Kel charges the second giant. The fighter tries to disarm the giant, the great sword hits the club but the huge creature manages to hold his weapon.

"I knew that it would be tough." Says Kel as tries to disarm him again. This time the fighter manage to hit the club at it's end. The club trembles and gfalls to the ground.

"Hurah! I'm great I.." Kel's enthousiasm is stopped as the giant grapples him.

"Puny human!" Sasy the giant with an evil laugh.

"Kel!" Yells Renad and getting his holly symbol parys loudly at Pelor. An axe made of ice appear at his hands. The cleric doesn't hessitates and charges the giant.ice

At the same time a bolt of lighting hits the giant who is fighting Brethana.

OOC2> Renad has casted ice axe.

The Giant starts to bear hug Kel, trying to crush him "Puny human! You die in my arms ha ha ha!".

Ooc>Brethana then has 4 attacks as she attacks with both hands.AT the end of the round is fair for her to have the 2 hasted ones as is usuallt how I would do it.

The Giant fighting Brethana crackles and smokes from the Bolt but still keeps going. Brethana slashes it twice(this is her end of the round attacks then she does her beginning of the round attacks) cutting it on it chest. The Giants growls and swings out with her club knocking Brethana back and into the trees. Luckily for her she managed to dodge the club a bit so she doesn't get the brunt of the blow. She gets up, her chest aching.


Jarg and Elvira take action. Jarg takes careful aim as an arrow pierces Kel's Giants eye. The Giant yells in pain as he garbs Kel and tosses him to the ground.

Elvira moves closer and throws both her daggers, hitting Brethana's Giant in the chest but not deep enough to penetrate the Giants thick skin. The Giant bleeds all over his face and chest now, seakend but not down.

OOC1> Actually Brethana gets only one more attack, she should have improved two weapon fighting to have 4.

IC> Kel tries to stand but a kick make him fall again. Renad holding his ice axe slashes twice the giant, but only the first attack gets him at the belly. The giant furious hits with both arms the cleric. Renad's shileld breaks in two pieces, but that saves the cleric's life. The second feast though, gets Renad to the chest cutting his breath for some seconds. Meanwhile Kel rolls over and stands up a few feet away.

Inovidil looks worried her friends trying to decide which giant hit with her spell. As she sees Kel getting up a smile appeasr at her face.

"Oh great Mystra make my plan wiorks please" Says the evoker adn points the ground down of Brethana's giant feet. The ground becomes greasy, the giant slips and falls heavily down.

"It's all yours Brethanma just pay attention to not fell too." Yells Inovidil.

OOC2> Grease.

The ice axe deals 2d12 damage, I don't have this die at home so if you want you can roll or we can just say that it have done 12.

Ooc1>12 dmg is fine by me.

Brethana realising that her elf blades arent that effective against the Giant, drops her swords. Snarling she removes her Great Sword. Getting a steady footing, she growls and spits, now raging. Jumping up on the Giants chest, she swings her Great Sword with all her might. All the rage of her seeing Thalar injured and how easily the Giants have hurt her friends comes out. In one fell swoop, her blade slices down and precisely chops the Giants head almost in 2. Brethana hops down and heads for the other Giant.
Ooc2>Brethana is really pissed off right now and wont calm down until Thalar is ok.

Jarg aims carefully and shoots again, this time getting the Giant in between the eyes. Do these Giants die! They are stronger than I thought! I sure am glad Brethana is on our side, she looks really angry for some reason


Elvira throws her dqggers again, this time hitting the Giant in the chest twice. The Giant staggers but keeps up, as his thick skin repels some of the blow. Blood flows freely down its face and chest. Seeing Brethana approach it, it laughs, coughs then swings its club at her. The loss of blood affects it's aim as it misses, leaving it open to attack from Renad, Kel and Brethana.

OOC> Renad has 34 spell points and he has used only 11.

Renad swings twice with his ice axe. The first attack is deflected by the giant's armor, but teh second attack cuts his right arm. The giant swears in pain and instictivelly graps his arm with his left one. Kel doesn't wait a better opportunity to attack, The fighter slices with his great sword, his first attack gets the giant at the chest, making deeper Elvira's wounds. The giant jumps back and manages to dodge the second swing but the furious fighter bravely moves farward and slices again getting him at the chest one more time. Knowing that his life is up to end, the giant hits Kel with his huge hand tossing them to the ground one more time.

"Great Mystra lead my hand" Says Inovidil as she releases another lighting bolt.

The bolt hits the giant directly to the chest, barelly miissing Renad's head. The giant looks with vacant eyes his burnt chest and then colapses to the ground.

"Kel, are you ok brother?" Says Inovidil and runs toward him. "Renad do something!"

"I'm... a little dizzy Ino, but I'll be fine. Renad go to Thalar first he is still unconcious." Says the fighter spitting blood from his mouth.

"I'd do that. I saw him." Says the cleric and runs toward the wounded elf.

Renad prays twice beyond Thalar and finally the elf open his eyes. The cleric helps him sit better and then heals him more. Then he heads to Kel and heals him too. Finally heals Brethana.

"Since everybody is ok, I think we should go to the giants cave. It's better if we hurry since we don't know that there are not other ginats around." Says Kel.

"It's better search them first, look seems good this chain shirt. It hasn't get damaged despite our attacks, I bet it's magic. It will be good for you Brethana." Says Inovidil and concentrates.

"I knew it, it's magic, so as this broach." Says Inovidil pointing a broach at the other giant's chest.

"I bet that protected him from my spell." Says Inovidil as gets the broach at her hand.

Brethana rushes to Thalar and helps him up. "Those Giants are powerful, I thought you were dead!"She says nervously. "You'll need to rest I'm sure".

Thalar winces as he stands but barely "Oh they are powerful indeed. That really hurt. I think we should look inside, let Jarg and Elvira do it then" he says then with Brethana's help finds a place to sit.

"Ok Elvira let's go look around then shall we?"Jarg looks to Elvira and they both go in the cave. Inside it is really smelly and dirty. After a bit of searching they find a chest. Carrying it out they open it and show the others what is inside, GEMS!!!!.

After they rest a bit they return to Hluthvar and clean up at the Inn to discuss their next move.

"What are we going to do tomorrow guys, any ideas? I will identify the items but then I'm free and I want to visit the town before leaving. I think I'm the only one who hasn't gone for a walk there. Then the day after tomorrow we will hit the road again for Tilverton, I cannot believe it that we are almost to Shadowdale." Says Inovidil and her face gets excited again.

"I'll go with you Ino, if you want me of course. I'll need a new shield, since the giant has broken mine." Says Renad.

"I think I will stay here and rest, despite REand has healed me, I feel week. I'm also very curious to know why I am the one who is more wounded quite always. Except Thalar today and the other time with the bandits, I'm the one who get more hurt." Says Kel.

"I think because they like you brother, you are so attractive that neither the attacks and the blows can stay away from you!"! Says Inovidil with a smile.

"Seriously now, you've a point here my friend, I think we should do something about that. Maybe you should get something that makes our skin harder or I can craft you something that can deflect the attacks. We should be at home for the second choice though." Says Renad.

"Leave him Renad, he gets more becasue he rushes get into battles, if he decided to get a moment to think he could activate his bracers, so the giant could not hit him so easily. Mom gave us the bracers on that purpose you know. " Says Inovidil, more serious now.

"Mwaaa, you and your spells, you do nothing without a spell ready, but I noticed that you have barelly missed Renad's head with your bolt before."

"That was... a coincidence. Mystra has lead my hand, Renad was safe."

"Enough guys, you are not alone here. Kel, Inovidil is worried about you, for this reason speaks like this. You should be more carefoul from now and then Kel. Now, what about the rest of you, what are you going to do tomorrow? Do you want to join me and Ino to the town?" Says Renad

Thalar just smiles and says "I'll rest tomorrow, thanks. Renad healed me but I'm still weak, it is better if I rest all day tomorrow. The day after we can leave and head for Tilverton, the longest part of our journey."

Brethana says, "I'll stay with Thalar and keep him company while you guys are busy, I'm pretty tired as well anyways."

Elvira speaks to Inovidil "I'll go with you tomorrow, Inovidil and Jarg can join us he knows his way around" she winks at Jarg

JArg just smiles but says nothing.

They head back to the town and rest the evening.

At the waeponsmith, Renad enters in order to get the cleric a new shield. Inovidil, Elvira and Jarg remain outside.

As waiting, Inovidil says to the halfling:

"Now we have finally found some time to talk without the others, tell me Elvira, have you noticed Brethana's change to Thalar? She stayed back to keep him company and at the battle the morning.... I have never seen her so angry as when the giant hits Thalar. I think the elves are hiding something! Do you agree?"
