Alfonse isn't a sailor, so I'll just roll an int check to spy someone important IE somebody climbing rigging, somebody bellowing orders, a guy in the crow's nest, etc. If I fail, I'll just shoot at somebody random I suppose with magic missile.

New round, but pirates are much too busy to fight PCs now, unless PCs get close or keep shooting at them.

The cog (it was acting as a grain ship and does not have full fighting platforms mounted) is sailing for the open sea.

The galley will attempt to ram. If successful, then a boarding action.

GERTIE will fire a couple more flaming arrows at the pirate cog's fresh sail/rigging,from behind improvised cover and while the others regroup.
Damien assists her lighting.
They will then follow Alfonse and the party wherever.

The 10 hits. 17 Dex gave her a bonus.

It's a big slow moving target.

Item save

[dice]0[/dice]

No big blaze, just a smoldering arrow embedded in a mast. A pirate can break that off.

Okay,

I HAVE ENDED CHAPTER NINE

You guys can catch up.
I don't want to railroad by pushing far ahead without input from all, or at least all but one, players.

If nobody had conflicting plans, assume that things are as posted.

I will open chapter Ten and leave it blank.

Whoever wants to get started, just QUOTE my last entry in Nine, and use that as your opening scene. I will update again after all players have had an opportunity to read and post.

Everybody still on board?

Any questions, comments, or concerns?

Fild Jumps to catch the kid!

Dex check or "attack" roll or whatever:
[dice]0[/dice]

Oh, come on!
We need a mechanic that allows us 1 heroic reroll per chapter or something.

EDIT: May it be a hit roll? After all, to catch something falling is similar to an attack.

It counts as an overbearing attack/grapple.

AC 9

She will attempt to drop him to Fild, when she sees that is an option.

That will soak Fild's full action for the first round.

What are the other guys doing, if Anything?

Is it possible to aid Fild so he can catch the kid?

Yes.

Just don't fumble...

Roll to hit (d20)

If you wish to help catch the kid.

Nat 1 equals: your PC bumps Fild out of the way and the kid hits the pavement.

Nat 20 will allow him to help the woman , too, and this round.

You two can successfully catch the toddler.

Feel free to describe this heroic rescue in play.

You can post now, if you like.
