The inn looks like that. Replace 'Westmeet square with the West road. North road, down which attackers may be coming, runs on the left side of the map. The Auld Oak is thus positioned near the crossraods. Stick a big oak in the middle of the courtyard. The wall shown at the top of the map is the ruined wall of an old bock keep, very soild. Brennan's great gandfather used it rather than tearing it down. The top of f the stone wall is accessible from the upper story of the inn.
'sewer' is a drainage hole for brewery waste that runs under the old stone wall.
The chamberpots are dumped further from the inn, downhill.
Any questions?

Answer on heavy crossbows:
No. Two guys trying to load one arbalest is like two monkeys humping the same football.
What would work-- if you had enough heavy crossbows- is having some guys load and other guys shoot. The loader/crankers hand ready weapons to the shooters. That would allow the shooters to fire every round.
But no one brought a heavy crossbow.
The hunting bows I mentioned are shortbows or longbows.
Brennan keeps a light crossbow under the bar.

Re: Birthright: Tuornen OOC
Ok just checking and thanks for the info you would need to have better rate fire in using a Heavy Crossbow . So need two to make it feasible . Good to know .
Then I would direct the men to erect barricades in such a way to funnel an enemy force coming down the north road that enemy force is supposedly coming down, to within bow shot(short range) of the window on the Second Floor and direct however many men could use the windows to use them . Gunnar directs the tough looking tracker guy to take charge of what men can be used fire from the windows . He ask him his name when he does this . Thinking he needs someone who is steady and will follow orders when given them .

I think you've got an extra attack in there, but it's okay. Not all hits, of course.

Filbert will search the trap door for traps.
Search: 95...failed miserably I know...http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3730263/
Open locks if needed and hoping the trap door isn't trapped...61 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3730264/

Noted.
Check the IC update for more.
Filbert can see in the dark better than Roald.
Don't worry- I'm taking that into account.
How close is he sticking to the big man?

Well, Filbert doesn't know he failed the trap check so he has no reason to not going in. He will follow Roald staying lets say 10-15 feet behind so in case of fight Roald can fight or move back.

Skirmish at the Auld Oak
First round:
Gunnar and Corac spot enemy forces advancing afoot, in the darkness.
Neither side is surprised.
Declared actions:
Gunnar and Cormac loose arrows (standing under the overhanging roof their bowstrings are less liable to become soaked).
Enemy foot hurl axes and spears, then chartge for melee.
Initiative:
The PCs and their allies
[dice]0[/dice]
The enemy force

Okay, so Gunnar and Cormac definitely get shots in before the enemy can close.
