Cirdan shrugs. "Okay, then." He hands Norzak 20 gold coins. "See if you can get some arrowheads for that. - Even if that means I will have to eat frogs till the end of the month..."tarlyn wrote:Norzak frowns at that notion. "Pardon me, Cirdan. Ain' yer of a Noble family? Cain' ye afford a silver weapon? Suren' ye're our tank, there's no denying. I's dunno if I gots any extra gold ta spare. Ain' made much since I bin in Richmoolow. Suren that Denys bin nice to us, but nice don' given us no gold, elf. Tha lil gold I does have I's use it ta eat n drink. We can't allas' eat on Sancerre's generosity." He raises his shoulders in a gesture meaning Sorry, can't help you out bub

Norzak gives Cirdan a strange look. Handing back the gold, he says "I's dint ask fer no gold. I's said I canna afford ta give ye any. Use the TWENTY towards your weapon Cirdan. If'n I ever need coinage I'll ne'er ask any of ye fer none, I's find a way ta get me some. I think that settles that!"
"Ah I's thinkin' that it canna cost that much ta get ye a silver weapon. Mebbe I kin deal ye a price at a friendly dwarven smithy in town. As fer me needin' silver arrows, I cain' stab with that! Rather be up front n kill me some dolts!"

Bennedict sighs. "You may be surprised, Herr Norzak. I believe Herr Denys is our best chance. They can be quite expensive." He rubs his eyes, trying to defuse any confrontation. "We can perhaps go and speak to him about that today, if you're immediately concerned. I think our issues with Van Deicks may be more pressing, however, especially as I'm still waiting on my clearance from Madame Rennier to investigate the Ezran library."

Footsteps can be heard outside the door, getting closer.
A moment later, and someone is rapping on the outside of the door.
''I have a message for you'' says a muffled voice from the other side.

''WHOA! I'm just a messenger, m'sieur! La Grande Dame wishes me to deliver this to m'sieur Gehrmann. ''
He clutches the packet to his chest.

The messenger, fairly quaking in his boots, steps cautiously into the office. Spotting Benn, he hurriedly makes his delivery in person, then rushes to leave. The whole time, he tries to keep as much distance as he can manage between himself and the terrifying figure in armor.
The parcel he's left with Benn is a leather envelope about a foot square and a couple of inches thick. It's sealed with wax and wrapped with a red silk ribbon tied in a bow.

Dorgio looks at the package, then gives Benn what the people of Har'Akir refer to as the scarab's grin. "That shared passion for antiques, it looks like it paid off!"

- Several papers fall into Benn's hand. Examining these, he finds:
Letters of credit written on thick sheets of parchment, authorizing up to 1000 gold ducats in expenditures, gauranteed by a bank in Mortigny. The letters name Benn personally ,but make no mention of Madame Renier.
a pencil sketch of a man sleeping in an armchair....it's Benn! The quality of the drawing is quite good.
a recipe for Lamordian Blood Pudding
and a small note written on folded cream paper that smells faintly of persimmons-
Benn,
I do hope the funds will be sufficient to begin your investigation. If you require more, you have only to ask.

Benn's jaw drops open and, for possibly the first time in his life, he is rendered speechless. After a moment he collects his wits, pulling the letters of credit from the stack and laying them on the desktop for all to see, while folding up the rest and hastily pocketing it.ewancummins wrote:Adam wrote:Bennedict blushes at Dorgio's implication, harrumphing something to the effect of "Slightly over-elaborate" as he unties the ribbon on the envelope, upending it and releasing the contents into his other hand.
