The gnome toddles off to the rear of the store, knocks on the reinforced door, and goes through when the door opens just wide enough to admit his slim body. The door then swiftly closes behind him.

The two gnomes dusting continue their chores.

"Lissen, I's purty sure I be hangin soon, so mebbe ye should note me will and be responsaible fer me lass rites. I dinna see how Is gonna git outta 'ere without a miracle, sir."

Rardi isn't depressed but is just accepting the inevitable in her mind.

He winks at the dwarf and opens his robe a little to show her something tucked in the lining- a small ceramic bottle. Quickly moving to close the robe before the guards notice, he says-

''Let us pray together now. Put your hands between mine and I will bless you, daughter of the sun.''

Despite she is still devasted Inovidil is glad to see Captain Rask, at least will be him that will announce her fate and not an unknown guard.

"I have slept a little sir, but not bathed there were not certain facilities here...What happened sir, the time of justice has arrived? You are here to announce me that?"

Rask says-

''Justice? What are you on about, woman? Justice hasn't a damned thing to do with this mess. No, I'm here to help you and the others. Look here, I've talked them into releasing Ironheart- seems there were some cases of itchy trigger fingers on the beach and Ironheart caught a bolt for no good reason. They are going to let him go, and I am going to refrain from complaining too loudly about the circumstances of the arrest. As for you and Rardi...it doesn't look good, I'll be honest. Why in the Nine Hells did you sign a written confession? What did they promise you, a clean cell like the dwarf got? Damn it all....if I get you out of this alive, you'd better start trusting me and sharing information! No more secret nighttime raids, without me knowing about it...''

Militia HQ

Blaise reaches militia HQ to find that Watch-Captain Rask is away.

Sergeant Talbot is happy to help, of course.

''What is it I can do for you, Blaise? Something about the smuggling case? Oh, and I haven't got word about your friends in jail- but I expect the Watch-Captain will fill us all in when he gets back from the island.''

Blaise mentally embraces the sunshine and he looks over to Shana. "Hmmm, your hair looks quite magnificent in the sunlight, Shana," he says with a smile. "It feels remarkably good to be a little reckless again. Mmm, get a whiff of the fresh food and rank offal!"

He leads to the way to the militia headquarters, although he's nonplussed to learn that Rask is not available. Once he finds another senior member of the militia, Blaise asks the person, "Excuse me, I need to talk to Watch-Captain Rask on an urgent matter. Do you know where he is? And a more general question, if I may, since I'm still fairly new to this city: If a person is found guilty of a major crime, say, complicity in murder, and sentenced to death, how much time is typically allowed before that sentence is carried out?"

militia HQ-

Rask's newly-appointed second-in-command, Merren, a somewhat paunchy man with the rank Lieutenant, is only to happy to answer Blaise's questions:

''Watch-Captain Rask is away on business. You may leave a message with Sergeant Talbot.
Now, murder you say? Well, for something like that executions are usually carried out rather quickly- sometimes as early as the next morning or even the same day. One can always appeal to the ruling noble for more time- here in Marsember, that'd be the baron, Lord Ildool. He might also be sitting as the judge, of course, if it were an important case. ''

Rardi's eyes don't betray what she sees and she nods to the man. She does however wink back. Moving forward she places her hands between the man's hands.

Thumast Alfane prays quietly and, as he does so, deftly places the small bottle between Rardi's palms. The dwarf can feel something dry and paper-like wrapped around the cool surface of the bottle- maybe a label or a note.

Rardi hides the thing in her pocket for future reading and squeezes his hand to let him know she got the package

Rardi nods to him "Thanks fer the blessin an yer time. Please try ta make sure Inovidil is fine. I'll pray to the Morninglord later fer guidance. Thanks agin."

Once the priest is gone, Rardi will lay on her cot, back to the men and pretend to sleep. She will ever so slowly remove the bottle and paper. Unwrapping it she will read it.

The paper is a label:

HOLY WATER

The back of the label is a little loose, though...and it looks as if it may something else written on it.

Rardi will take her time and slowly bring the paper up so she can read the small print.
