Back to Basics Chapter 1: Where are we ?

Dalorna takes a moment to observe the happy reunion, a wistful smile on her face, before turning her attention to other matters. She carefully checks all of her things. Once satisfied of that, she walks over to where Arnulf stands with the strange man. She waits patiently for the short man to answer her brother's questions.

[Lord Skybolt]

"I'm Ping Lao Jen Mo Yu . But you can just call me Ping . Usually I makes sure the village is warded from outside forces, but I had to take care of some business away from here in the last few days ." Ping Says in reply to Arnulf's question about who he is . After introducing himself he mutters to himself:"I told those idiotic nobles to keep away from my retirement home ." " As to where you are this is the village of Ku . It is located in the land of Vassa . I have been here for several years now living a mostly quite life of contemplation ."

Dalorna frowns ever so slightly at the answer.

"Ah, so we aren't in Cormyr. That's not good news for us, I'm afraid. Master Ping, could you tell us how far it is from here to the city of Marsember?"

[VAN]

"Nova Vassa! Wow! The mists got all of us here from two different lands. I'm from Richmulot but the rest are all from a city called Marsember. Do you know how we can get back there or to Pont a Musaeu if is closer?"

[Lord Skybolt]

"As to this Marsember you come from I have never heard of it . " Answering Dalorna's question .
Speaking to Arnulf "Well I don't know how you got here or how you can be sent home . Oh and by the what is that strapped to your back ? " Pointing out with his staff the about 4 feet long package that is strapped cross wise on Arnulf's back . Before waiting for a reply from Arnulf he says to Sara "I guess that might be it's official name . I have just always called it Vassa ."

Dalorna frowns again.

Vaasa, why does that sound familiar? Someplace up north, near Pelvuria, right! I didn't think it would be this warm, though. Maybe this isn't that place, though. We could be someplace completely different. Sara seems to have a good idea of where we might be. For now, I'll defer to her knowledge of this region. I need to find a map.


"Excuse me, but I don't suppose that anyone in this village has a map of the region? That might help us. As you can see, we're all a bit lost. "

Now, Vassa did in fact sound familiar. He could not begin to think of where it was located, but he knew the name in passing.
The Professor continued to listen in silence, gathering as much information as he could while the others asked questions. During an opportune time, the Professor asks, "Do you know of a place nearby where we could regroup and possibly get some rest? Hopefully I do not speak just for myself when I say it has been a tiring day."

While allowing the old man time to answer all these questions, Dalorna takes a hunk of green cheese out of her pack and crumbles a bit of it into her hands. She then feeds her raven.

"As to this Marsember you come from I have never heard of it . " Answering Dalorna's question .
Speaking to Arnulf "Well I don't know how you got here or how you can be sent home . Oh and by the what is that strapped to your back ? "Uh, that is my short sword, Mr Ping. Thanks for your information. I have never heard of those places. Then again I am maybe too young."

[Lord Skybolt]

"Well that is not any kind of short sword by the size of it, unless it is for a giant ." Pointing directly at the "Package" Arnulf memory is jogged as Ping is pointing directly at the item that his uncle send Dalorna and him to Marsember to deliver to some gnomes to have some kind work done on it .


Turning to Dalorna "I have a minor map of the area to about 50 miles from here is . I have not needed any thing more . You can look at it if every one in your party answers all my questions honestly latter on at the party tonight to celebrate the return of the children . With you as the guest's of honor for your honorable actions in regard to the plight of these village people in there time of need in my absence . "With that Ping turn's and using his staff as cane moves to leave .

"Well that is not any kind of short sword by the size of it, unless it is for a giant ." Pointing directly at the "Package" Arnulf memory is jogged as Ping is pointing directly at the item that his uncle send Dalorna and him to Marsember to deliver to some gnomes to have some kind work done on it .

"Sorry, I keep forgetting about that package, Mr Yu. I actually do not know what it is. I was delivering it to some gnomes when we
got lost. I figure seeing as the property is not mine, I have no right to open it. I have to admit," he stifles a giggle, "I think you are the first person I meet whose name is as long as a gnome's. You do, however, speak much less than they do."


Arnulf doesn't mention his sister is Lorna or anything else. For now her would keep her out of it for his and her protection of course.
As for the party, well he had never had anything held in his honor but there is a first time for everything. He looks at Lorna after his words
and puts a finder to his lips before looking back at the village. "So are we going to go enjoy this party tonight then join Mr Yu afterwards?"

Dalorna replies to Arnulf-

"Sure,going to a party sounds nice. Maybe we'll learn something about how to get back home. Even if that doesn't happen, we can at least get a better sense of this strange place and its people."

[kintire]

Alia brightens up at the mention of a party, and quickly begins to add some flourishes and finishing touches to the ballad

Turning to the rest of the group, Dalorna says-

"I think that we should go and find a place to rest, just as the Professor has suggested. We can talk with one another, take our luncheon, etc. No one is hurt, right? "

[kintire]

Yes indeed, some rest would be most pleasant.
