outside Blackpillars-
The woman grabs the little girl, dropping the precious stones to the ground. She glares at Rardi with undisguised hatred and fear.
''Don't you touch her again. Don't you dare.''
Her voice is quavering, and she is shaking as she speaks. Now she grows louder, angrier-
''Stay away from us.''
With her free hand, she draws a small dagger from her clothing.
''STAY AWAY FROM US!''

Rardi is so surprised that she starts laughing at the hysterical woman. "Now, lassie are ye really sure ye wanna..... ha-ha-ha-ha... try that? Ha-ha-ha..... I ain't hurt ye.... ha-ha-ha.... I'm sorry.... ha-ha-ha...."
At this point Rardi grows serious, and her hand goes to her mace, eyes growing hard. "If ye try it, ye'll rergret it. I is lettin ye an that thing free. Dun make me change me mind. If yer carin fer that monstrosity, then yer as warped as Delthrin is. Put away the dagger, it's me last warning."
Holding back another Hold Person. And this time Rardi will tie up the woman and subdue the child, tying it up as well.

outside-
The pretty brunette pulls the young girl behind herself, shielding the girl from possible attack by Rardi. She slowly backs away from the dwarf.
''Stay back!''
The woman quickly sheathes her knife, grabs the girl, and turns to flee!

Ironheart's oar breaks off at the end when he strikes his target with it. The blow breaks the creature's neck, which does little to stop the onslaught. Shana's missiles blast it, yet it keeps on coming.
The other one attacking Ironheart- whose chest was laid open by Ino's sound lance- joins its companion in a coordinated strike. Open-chest swings low as Broken-Neck swings high. Both swords strike the big barbraian, though neither wound is deep.
Ironheart jumps backwards as the swords slash him - only to grab his own, twin scimitars, and in a single movement, cut upwards in a cross-like movement...

Shana delivers another volley of Magic Missiles at the same target, keeping Ironheart between her and the enemy as much as possible.

"Bah!" Rardi turns and walks faster towards where she came from, intent on seeing if the noises she had heard earlier were serious or not.
Preparing Light of Venya so if need be I can cast it right away.

Blaise says, "I've done enough bleeding today!" Pointing his finger at the closest foe, he glares at it and intones, "Animated by spells arcane / May your soul twist in fear and pain!" Red-and-silver energy shoots forth from his hand.

the study
The party's counterattack succeeds in dropping two of the four attacking undead [Open Chest and Broken-Neck]. As the armored bodies fall to the floor, they release waves of green radiation! The strange energy has a beneficial effect on the remaining two creatures- it repairs their injuries! The effect on poor Blaise [who is still not far from one of the destroyed creatures] is not so salubrious.
One of the two remaining monsters is able to stand and advance on Ino, despite the grease. It swings its sword and cleaves in half the chair behind which she has taken cover!
The other creature stands, but slips and falls on the greasy section of the wood floor.

Shana gestures and a ripple runs across the room passing between Ino and the undead approaching her. With a grating rumble a crystalline wall of stone rises from the floor, blocking passage up the room from floor to cieling with a barrier of shimmering quartz
[Major Image of a wall of stone protecting Ino from the undead. Will DC 19 to spot the illusion IF it is interacted with. Since its a mindless undead it may not occur to it to do so

Blaise reels backward as the necrotic energy washes over him. It feels like his insides are convulsing in freezing pain. He staggers past Inovidil into the hallway to catch his breath.

Jamethon says-
''Well, what of your travels in this new world, Alain? What have you learned?''
Alain withdraws his direct attention for a moment, taking a moment to reflect on his travels through this new world.
"In all honesty, after I parted way with everyone I mostly stayed in Waterdeep trying to get the people interested in my book,
The Land of Mists.
"Unfortunately many of the locals took it as fictitious and thereby of little value considering the cost of purchasing a book."
He gives a half smile, looking at his mug of wine.
"After doing that for a while, I met up with the rest of you. I had heard there were events here worth investigating."
He takes a sip from his drink. Setting the mug down with an uncharacteristically dull thud. He adjusts in his seat, again looking to Jamethon.
"And that brings me to the subject of my next book. As you are already aware, this world has striking familiarities to our own. Names and Places. All vaguely familiar as if drawn from our own history.
"My theory so far is that all worlds are connected by common threads. We have already somewhat proven this just by coming here.
"Eventually I hope to find a way to return home. So far I am placing my faith in the mists themselves. Back in our world, the mists almost had a
ghost story mythology surrounding them. Some stories spoke of being able to traverse land or sea in ways that defied common understanding. Many of us experienced this first hand when we traveled to the land of Staunton Bluffs.
"Some sailors speak of reliable passages through the mists back in our world. I would be very interested to find out whether these same passages exist here on this world, and if they are able to bridge the distance between this world and the next."
Almost out of breath with the excitement of speaking about his ideas, Alain sits back and takes a deep breath, exhaling through his nose and running his hands through his hair.
"Of course, some of believe that our world was destroyed..."

Noticing how bad Blaise was hurt Inovidil gets a scroll from one of her pockets and touching the warlocks arm she pronounces a few arcane words. Then she grabs what remains of the chair and prepares herself to fight.

The Old Shell-
''Well, in Lantan, I heard talk of special portals. It seems that this world has many magical gateways, most leading to other parts of this world- some leading to other worlds. These are artifacts left over from olden days- though some appear to be natural phenomena. Perhaps one such portal leads to our homeworld? I never heard of one that did, but it's a possibility.''
Jamethon frowns-
''As for our world being destroyed...I really don't know, Alain. I suppose that's possible, too.''
.............
Blackpillars, the study
Blaise escapes into the hall. He can still look into the room, and isn't too far from Shana and Ino.
Shana's illusory wall now bisects the room, cutting off the undead swordsmen from Shana, Blaise and Ino. Ironheart had moved to attack just as Shana cast her spell, and he now stands on the far side of the transparent barrier, along with the two armored undead!
WE MOURN FOR DELTHRIN. WE AVENGE DELTHRIN. DEATH TO ALL ENEMIES OF DELTHRIN.
You three can see through the quartz wall. You can see Ironheart battling the two dead men, slashing with his two swords. The big man lets loose with a wall-shaking scream of fury. A killing rage comes over him and he proceeds to demolish one of the two avengers.
The predictable wave of green energy hits Ironheart. Open sores appear on his skin and his hair shrivels at touch of the unholy radiation.
Now only one undead remains, but it is totally undamaged. It steps forward and stabs Ironheart in the belly, the sword going at least a hand's length into the flesh.
At this time, Blaise, in the hallway, spots Rardi coming in from the front door, a mantle of soft pearlescent radiance hanging about her body.

Rardi spots Blaise and approaches, asking him "What's happenin? What yer doin ere in tha hallway? Are you injured agin???" She eyes the Bard closely, still concentrating on her spell.

"YES, I'm injured again!" says Blaise, with more emotion than he intended. "Undead in suits of armor. Delthrin likes spectacle." He looks into the room. "Shana, that wall of yours ... will my attack penetrate it? I don't want it to bounce off and hit one of you by accident."
