"Good evening my lady. Pardon my assumption if it gives any offence but you seem a foreigner in this part, as am I. In any case, the hour is late and this fine neigborhood could be somewhat less safe for a lone woman. Would you like me to accompany you? If your husband wouldn't take offence of course.
Safana pauses, looking wary and perhaps slightly annoyed, but on seeing the stranger more clearly she raises an eyebrow and looks more welcoming

"That's very kind of you sir. I was just going to the watch, as a matter of fact. Or wait... are you by any chance a healer?"

She glances down the alley between the inn and the next building.

"A man was attacked, just here! Three criminals just jumped him! It was really excit...uh, terrible!"

DELSENORA & GIMP

After exiting the Cathedral, Domenica gives the carriage driver instructions to head to the poshest Inn in
the city. "Come, Gimp". She waits patiently for him to open the door for her and help her in, playing the role \
of the noble lady to the tee.

Once sitting, she waits for him and after he is as much set in, the carriage departs.

"We are heading to a very expensive establishment. Do as I've taught you about proper etiquette. We are appropriately attired
and thus shall spend the afternoon seeing what we may learn. Our goal is quite simple. See who has been asking about the Duke
and his family. As well, we wish to see whom has been spending coins and who , new, is doing so."

The ride is over before it started. Lady Domenica attaches a whip to her belt, and inspects the dagger attached to each leg under her dress.
Satisfied, she exits the carriage. Gimp waits for her and soon, she is seated at a table in a quiet corner. Gimp waits expectantly behind her,
eyes on the patrons of the establishment. He hopes to please his mistress this day. She takes in her surroundings as well, slowly.

She waits to be tended to.

Termelan looks around and he clutches his stuff. He seems to know how to use it. "No. I'm not a healer." he said distracted as he looks through the shadows for the footpads. "My name is Termelan and I would like to help you find the watch safely so you can give your report. Give me one moment my lady..." Termelan says and without entering the tavern sinks his head inside and says with a clear, duty-bound voice that raises above the clout of discussions.

"One of your fellows, one of your neighbors has been attacked by footpads not deserving to be called men a few minutes ago that would take the life of a man returning from a long day of honest labor for a few copper pieces.
Thankfully for your lucky fellow man the cowards that ambushed him were spotted by a fierce woman with black hair lustrous like the most expensive silk. Not even daring to attack a girl, those cowards left. Now the victim is safe but the fair lady is braving the streets alone in this hour to find the watch and report the crime, risking retaliation from the same vagabonds. I am not willing to let a brave woman be targeted by these muggers once they find more of their ilk.
I'll accompany her.
Is anyone else here willing to spend a few minutes away from his drink to help a lady and his fellow man?"

The crowd murmurs approval, but only two young men among the crowd rise to answer the bard's call for help. The others return to the drinks and meals.

The two youths look like they could be related; both are sandy-haired with freckles and pug noses. Both wear rough tunics, homespun breeches, and mud-colored cloaks. Small knives hang at their rope belts.
One, a little taller and older-looking than the other, says,
"I'm Colier. This is my cousin, Daene. We'll go with you."

She waits to be tended to.
Domenica sits in the common area of the Merry Traveller, a fine quality inn situated along the Grand Promenade.
She sees only servants and well-dressed guests; no beggars, ragamuffins, of obvious ne-er-do-wells.
But she does note that among the dandies and their ladies, several men stand out. Men with wary eyes, scars, thick fencer's wrists, and functional-looking swords in fine scabbards.
By her count, at least six such men, most clustered near a table where a fat man in a fur-lined velvet doublet demolishes a roast chicken.

A servant steps up to Dominica's table. The girl curtseys.
"What may I get for you, my lady?"

The Gimp, as he often does around attractive young women, dips his head low and avoids meeting the serving girl's gaze.

Lowering her voice, she asks "Are these men new to the city. I have not seen the likes of them before. Your discretion is much appreciated, young Miss, I assure you."

" Daene, Colier I see you're eager to help a mamsel in distress!" Termelan says happily and pats them both on the back.
"This time it's quite effortless lads. I doubt the vagabonds will show up against four people. Let me introduce you to the lady in question" Tarmelen says and guides the men outside the door Colier first, Daene second. He follows Daene outside and cuts to the front to make introductions. "Madame, these two stout lads are Daene and Colier, eager to help their fellow man and provide a welcome escort as we look for the watch; we are not going to let the footpads harm you my Lady"

As he gently pushes the cousins appart to pass, his hands expertly dive in the rope loop to snatch Colier's knife and hide it in the folds of his sleeve.

After leaving the Cathedral Filbert makes a mental list of the inns he should check for new outlaws. He goes back to the palace and heads to his room, gets his disguise kit out and inspects it, he has everything he needs. Then he changes his outfit chosing one of those he wore when he was just a jester off duty, he congratulates himself for keeping them. If he wants to pass for a poor guy he needs to look like one. He ruflles his hair so they will not be combed in the latest fashion, takes from the kit a fake nose, a dark brown wig and couple crayons, a small mirror and exits in a hurry trying to avoid the corridors that use the servants. Once outside he hides behind an empty house and disguises himself. Once he is done he looks like a totally different halfing, he has even got a small scar at his cheek. He looks himself at the mirror and sattisfied heads at the first at his list. Once inside he pretends to look for an empty table but at the same time studies the patrons of the inn. Then he makes his way to a table at the center of the room passing closer to those that he finds a bit suspicious avoiding any eyecontact but trying to eavesdrop their conversaton.

FILBERT INCOGNITO

THE THREE PENNY INN, NEAR THE TRADE GATE, WESTERN EDGE OF THE CITY OF HAES

Filbert stops by the Three-Penny, a cheap lodging house near the Trade Gate in the western part of the city. Men and women have taken most of the available seats, but a Halfling can always find a spot to squeeze in; Filbert gets to the center table and finds an overturned bucket for a makeshift chair.

The voices of the big people fill the room with noise. Concentrating, while putting on a relaxed front, Filbert sifts out some choice bits.
Someone behind him just mentioned the Duke's upcoming wedding. Something about free beer.

Meanwhile, a plump harlot solicits a rough-looking man with an eye-patch. both of them seated near Filbert.
"Come on, love, just because it says three pence on the board doesn't mean I'm that cheap. Give me a little more and I'll show you I'm worth it. "

Termelan, Safana, 2 youths
"Lead the way my lady!" Termelan says to the exotic woman.
As she makes her mind (whether she approves of a sudden escort of 3 men or not) and starts moving, Termelan begins a low tune.

It starts softly, nearly under his breath. The words are in a foreign, heavy, strong language probably incomprehensible by most. But meaning of the words doesn't seem to matter. As the moments that Termelan sings in a low voice turn to minutes the music, the syllabes, the notes that Termelan creates they all seem to condence into... something.
Athough the meaning of the words is lost, the music tantalizes the mind evocing powerful images, ublifts the spirit and bolsters the heart with promises of valor or glory depending on one's disposition. The Sound of the footsteps of a soldier returning home after the war. The pride of a squire kneeling to receive knighthood. The power of a giant gazing his domain from the mountaintop. The view of the holy shrine at the end of a pilgrimage. The gleaning of the moon on a masterpiece blade in the eyes of the blacksmith. All these and more are conveived slowly, note by note, syllabe by syllabe unknown word by word as Termelan's voice starts to pick up.

The music is moving enough that for a moment, the casual passerby may forget the incredulity that this group is actually going for a hike to inform the watch and not taking the first steps of a grand quest.

Temerlan sings as the small party heads across the street to Safana's house.

At the lady's house, the little band collects the traveller she aided, a middle-aged man with a bruise on his head.

They all head for the River Gate, where the city watch maintains a guard post.

And still the bard sings his song, full of strange words that roar and rumble like catapult stones rolling down the street.
People lean out of their doorways and windows to listen.
Several men and boys the party passes fall drop what they are doing and fall in behind the bard, laughing, clapping their hands to the rhythm of his song.

By the time, a short while later, the party reaches the River Gate, Temerlan walks at the head of a group of at least twenty people.

The gate stands open during the day, but not unguarded. Four guards in green cloaks stand near a little covered stall set up just outside the gate. A clerk sits in the stall, with a book on a folding table in front of him.
One of the guards waves at Temerlan's approaching group.
"Ho there, singer, play for us!"

TOWER OF THE HUNT

The lone rider passes along the narrow hillside trail, pack mule following the rider’s mount on a rope lead. Ahead, maybe half a mile distant, a square tower of ivy-clad masonry that rises atop the highest hill in sight. Wooden structures cover the hilltop behind the tower.

Snowflakes fall, melting before the touch the rider’s hands at the reins or the horse’s head and neck.

As the rider draw nearer to the tower-house, firelight flashes in one of the darkened, narrow windows of the upper level, thirty feet or more from the base.
Watchers appear on the battlemented roof, men with crossbows.
A man calls down,
“Who goes there?”
Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

The Tower of the Hunt

The lone rider draws its horse to a stop. Its light blue heavy wool cloak shifts slightly as the rider looks upward towards the the battlement. Raising a single gloved hand in a gesture of peace,

"I am but a travel weary Bard, seeking respite and information." The rider says.
History prefers legends to men. It prefers nobility to brutality, soaring speeches to quiet deeds. History remembers the battle and forgets the blood. What ever history remembers of me if it remembers me at all, it shall only be the fraction of the truth.

Filbert incognito

Filbert pretends he needs to strech his small arms and by doing that moves slightly his chair toward the man that spoke about the Duke's wedding even if he has just mentioned the free beer. Trying to spot the maid to order a beer he takes another look at the patrons in the crowded room but always avoiding eye contact with them. He tries to figure out who might carry a concealed weapon or is nervous.

THE MERRY TRAVELLER

Domenica smiles, more coins find themselves in the girls hands. They wouldn't happen to be spending an exorbitant amount of money, would they? Or be asking questions about our Duke and the wedding are they?"
